I am getting the model 63-1030 and trying to find additional transmitter units for it. I can't find the item on their website, and the store I was in didn't have any.

Does anyone know about the availability of these things? Do any of you have some and happen to know the RS item number for it? Have you seen the transmitter alone in any stores? I thought this would be a good idea, but it isn't if I can't take advantage of monitoring multiple humidors.

Thanks in advance if you have any info...

Regards,
JK

UPDATE - I called Radio Shack, and the old part number for the sensors is 63-1031, but that has been discontinued. They have a new sensor available, part number 1242987, that works with the unit above. It is about $13, but is backordered until sometime in July.

Just in case anybody out there had the same questions. If anyone sees either of these at the local RS, I'll be glad to buy/trade you for them.

Jim they have been discontinued.

GTPHALE said his store had about 4 left.. He picked up 2 of them.. maybe contact him..to see if he can pick them up for you..

I have a spare 63-1030 if someone needs one.

Local store had 2, on sale, so I bought both. Don't really need both so if someone realy wants it PM me. Otherwise I'll keep as a spare backup. Price was $39.99

just wanted to give those people who will be performing the salt-test on these a tip...
when you seal them in whatever container they'll be tested in, use the metal stands that they come with. I was testing mine lying flat, and they were registering 5-10 below 75%. as soon as I started standing them up during testing, they were coming in much closer to, if not spot-on, 75%.
those must be sensor inlets in the back. ;)

good luck!

Thanks for the tip- just put both on the stands to test

Oregon Scientific makes a sensor that will handle 3 remotes. Can be found on Amazon or eBay. Comes with one remote; if you Google for the company name or the model number of the remotes you can find them for under $30 each.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I may return these and get the Oregon Scientific setup instead. They are a little more attractive in their design, and by all accounts, the same insides.

Does anyone know if the OS units calibrate the same as the Shack units?

JK

I love my Oregon Scientific unit! I use one sensor in the wine cellar and one in the humidor. The unit also has a nuclear clock, shows temp/humidity history, and has a alarm. Very atractive unit as well.

I just picked up an Oregon Scientific, the one with the clock that projects on the ceiling. It recognizes the radio shack remote sensor, so it looks like they are interchangeable. Shoud be, since the RS unit is just a re-branded Oregon.

Really? Cool... I have the same O.S. unit in my house. I wonder if the signal will read upstairs, with the coolidor down. That woudld be cool.. i can check the RH without even walking downstairs! Off to check this out!

The manual says it has a 90 foot range, so it depends on how big your house is. I left my sensors in the garage and walked to the far end of the master bedroom (about 100 ft.) and it still recognized them.
