My brother in law just got an older looking store style counter humidor, and I cannot tell from the pictures he sent me if it is adjustable. It has weird markings on the back of it, and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I can't figure out how to post pictures in the posts, so I have the pictures in my gallery. The hygrometer is showing 100...obviously it cant be right at this point. Let me know if you can help.

There should be a set screw in there somewhere that will allow you to dial it around, or maybe you can rotate the back so that the needle is lined up where it needs to be.

Once you figure out how to set it, salt test it, and use the results to get you in the right range.

Couple of things:

- Save yourself the headache and spring for a $20 digital hygro. Less headache, better accuracy.

- You can adjust the needle on the back using a screwdriver, but that's only after calibrating it. Get a plastic ziploc bag, a clean Gatorade bottle cap, some iodized salt, and make a slurry of distilled water and salt inside the cap. Stick the hygro, the cap, and slurry (within the cap) inside the ziploc bag. Seal it, then put that into a tupperware container. Let it sit in a dark cool place for the next 2 days. Check on it, and if it isn't reading 75, then use a screwdriver and turn it to 75.

-Lastly, fill out your profile and go introduce yourself. ;)

I second soul dog, you don't want to mess with this antique, as metal over time will fatigue.Spend the $20 and make it simple.

Edit for my usual x-fingers.

thanks for the help guys. We went ahead and picked up a digital hygrometer. Much easier.
