Question about cigar mailers

Recently my friend and I went to visit his dying grandfather(I bought him a $15 Cohiba while I was there lol) and he mentioned a cigar mailer that he had saw in a magazine a few weeks ago. My friend and I went swimming at the lake and then when we got back to his grandparent's house, he had cut out the mailer for me. Pretty much, it's one of those things you see in magazines that advertises "ten quality cigars plus a humidor for $30." Now, ten cigars and a humidor for $30 sounds good to me, even if it's not the greatest quality humidor(currently using plastic bags with humidipaks to store my cigars lol). My question is, is this worth filling and mailing out and spending $30 on? So far it seems like a good deal it comes with cigars such as Cohibas, Hoy de Monterreys, that sort of good stuff.

If you like the smokes listed, go ahead. You'll probably get a lot of junk mail associated with signing up, though. Watch for fine print, automatic renewals, etc.

Generally, they off some pretty shitty cigars with "deals" like this, so personally, I would avoid them like the plague.

What he said. You'd be better off using tupperware with hearfelt beads, and buying sticks from our vendors here, or participating in the newbie sampler thread.

If it's from Thompson's, I'd burn it and leave it there. They are notorious for horrible spam mailings, phone calls, adding you to other mailing lists, etc.

There are some really amazing store owners that post in these pages. Check out the vendor section, buy from someone close. You won't get better service than from these guys; they are all top notch and great guys to work with. I could name some but I'd miss some others and I'd hate to miss one of the great guys that support these pages. Long term, building a relationship with a solid vendor will let them recommend new smokes to you, and who knows, you may get in on a good deal or two. Been known to happen...:whistling:

Also there's the nOoBiE sampler trade thread....you will not get a better deal on quality hand picked smokes from a guy that knows.

Have fun, and feel free to shoot me a PM if you'd like.

Yeah, I think I've seen Thompson's do this. Once they have your info, hiding from them is futile...

The sampler is from Cigars International, are they any good? Also, a tupperware container and a humidipak is seeming like a good option lol, much better than my plastic bag.

There are better ways to spend your money, as BBS said. Go get a gallon-size lock-n-lock plastic container from walmart and your humidor needs will be filled for quite a while.

CI is...."OK" and yes, I cherry pick their sales now and then. But.....you can do better overall with the vendors that post here.

Newbie sampler thread. Get into it, read it, learn it and then do it. These folks take good care of newbies. Send me a PM and I'll get something your way. Lord knows they all took good care of me.
