What is the proper way to doing a vertical tasting?
Oldest to newest or other way around?

Also found a local with 2004 Bigfoot, any one yet this?

Most of the tastings I have done have been oldest to newest but I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it. Lately I have liked pouring all of the years and tasting them one after another.

Here is a link to a convo on it. LINKY

My personal opinion would be to work from newest to oldest. This way you could see how the beer tastes fresh, and what has changed/matured/dropped out over time. Of course, this is assuming the beer in question is brewed identically every year. With a brew like Anchor OSA that undergoes subtle changes each year, there really is no direct comparison from vintage to vintage. In that case I say, screw the order, just drink the damn beer with some friends, make sure you have plenty of crackers and water around to cleanse your palate, try not to get blotto'd before you finish, and have fun! :)

Thats a helluva good point, Mike. Makes perfect sense to me.
