For any California residents, I just noticed in the Fry's Electronics ad today there is a "1.7 cubic foot" thermo-electric refrigerator for $59 with a $10 rebate.

It is just a white box, and it is small, but if temperatures keep-up like they have been it might not be a bad little unit for box-overflow storage.

Just a heads-up.

Refrigerators have dehumidifiers. If you can disconnect that, you're in business. :)

I dunno about cali, but around here, honestly, you can find deals on small refrigerators for about $50 all the time. Especially in the back-to-school season. In May-June, you can get used ones from college campuses for $25-$40, depending on the condition of the exterior and how long it's been since the seller bought weed.

Try fatwallet for deals on appliances.

Frex, you can currently get this fridge for $79 by using this coupon code: 98082021027 and there is also a $30 mail in rebate, and free in-store pickup. Sadly, tax does apply.

Lowes also has a 1.6cu for $58, no rebate hassle.

I don't think that thermo-electric refrigerators are like regular refrigerators in that regard. That is what I always thought anyway. Something to look into.

You are correct, atuck. The thermo electric (TE) models do not have the same issues as conventional refrigerators in regards to humidity. I have a conventional that I have been using for awhile now and it is working, but if it had to run much more than it does here in northern Minnesota, I'd be looking at TE models. The TE models can still create some condensation problems, but for the most part humidity is relatively stable during their use.

They aren't perfect by any means, but the TE models are definitely preferable to conventional refrigerators if they must run for any length of time each day.
