If the NFL had balls, this guy would never play again, but whats the use of an ethics policy if you never use it.

I do love the fact that he has to do scut labor for a contractor at $10/hr. Something tells me he'll be the guy leaning on the shovel.

Yeah, let's give this douche a job, when there are many many other unemployed people who need it worse.

One of, if not the, biggest wastes of talent to ever grace the sports world . . . what a shame.

I agree with you, Isy, but he will. I watched all the interviews with the commissioner and all Vick basically has to do to play is complete his post-release regiment, tell them all he's sorry and a changed man . . . pretty sad.

He says he's a changed man....my ass..

If you are the type of shitbag that can kill an innocent dog with your bare hands you have a genetic defect. H'e no differant than a pedophile in my eyes...one bullet...story over.

I couldn't agree more.

Waste of a bullet if you ask me! Use a length of rope it's cheaper and reusable. ;)

+1. Why does he deserve a job. There are better people out there that need a job.

He should not play again. I think the NFL is counting on enough time to have passed to avoid backlash, but I'm not sure they're right.

The crimes he committed are despicable. He has no right to expect to return to the same sort of life he threw away. In fact, I believe it would be detrimental to his "rehabilitation" to have millions at his disposal and the charmed life of a professional athlete. He would return to the type of activities that caused his incarceration in the first place in no time.

I'll take the opposing view here, and not because I like Mike Vick.

But, if Leonard Little of the St. Louis Rams can kill a woman while drunk driving and still play in the NFL, well then there's room for a dirtbag like Michael Vick as well.

That's because precedent has already been set....with a man killing a woman while drunk driving, and going on to become a "leader" in the US Senate!

Not a very good choice of words....

Vick is a POS, but what are you going to do? The guy is talented enough to be picked up by another team and its a free country. If you don't like a team giving him a shot, don't cheer for them.

Our country is build around second chances in our justice system. He done his dues, thus he should be granted a second chance. I by no means agree with what he did. But if we are going to throw him under the rug then, our values and ideologies of our justice system is thrown out the window. Just a thought.

edit to add: Second chances do not always work out for the best, but everyone(as long as its not murder or rape) should have a chance IMO.

He is a POS, and he deserves to be treated the way he treated the dogs IMO.

That being said he also doesn't necessarily deserve another chance in the league. Let's say you were a talented financial analyst making millions for your company and were arrested on federal dog fighting charges. You would lose your license and be banned from the industry for life. That's not the only industry that is the case in, it's just the first to pop into my head. Why can't the league be held to the same standards as the rest of society.

Nobody is given a "second chance" by our justice system. They are either acquitted or sentenced and serve their time. As a felon, he has lost many of the rights you and I enjoy. All he has done, to date, is almost complete the terms of his plea bargain. He is not entitled to any "second chance" from the citizens and/or corporations of this country.

That may be your view and that's fine, but its not usually a good thing when you are talking about killing a black person with a rope. In fact, that's pretty offensive, regardless if that's how you intended it to be.

Anyways, your analysis about the financial industry or any other is not applicable here because, as I said, it is a free country. Do you want to start telling employers who they can and cannot hire simply because you don't like what they did? And who's standards are we comparing the NFL with, the legal community, medical community, or police officers? Just because you don't like what someone did doesn't mean other people can't offer them a job.

Seriously the fact he was black didn't enter my mind until you just mentioned it now.

I would never tell someone they can't hire anyone. I didn't even say they can't give him a job. I said they shouldn't there's a big difference. I'm looking to hold the league to our society's standards which is an effort in futility since they let just about every POS that commits crime back in.
