Welp, I played poker again tonight -- I won some good money, then drove home to take the girlfriend to see Harry Potter, and she'd fallen asleep... so back to the tables I went. I never should have returned, I think I won just 1 hand in the next two hours. It was brutal.

At least I had some good smokes to enjoy while I tossed my money away:

Cohiba Siglo V -- A very enjoyable cigar that burned like a razor, and had a nice bit of strength to it, as well as that wonderful Cohiba sweetness and flavor. This is the kind of cigar that after smoking, your mouth just tastes wonderful. Had a nice bit of twang to it that I really enjoyed.

HdM Piramide 2003 EL -- The nice dark wrapper on this cigar was inviting, and I wasn't disappointed. Wonderful flavors of chocolate, a bit of nuttiness, and just an over all very pleasurable smoking experience. This is probably my favorite 2003 EL.

VSG Torpedo -- These had a couple of years of age on them, and though I'd just received them in the mail, they were ready to roll. While this cigar lacked some of the deeper flavors of the previous two cigars, it had some really nice spicy kick to it that was just the thing to break up the Habanos with. yummy!

Partagas Salomones 2002 -- I decided to smoke one of my 5 Partagas Salomones (thanks, DaveC!). I had some serious burn issues with this cigar when I first lit the nipple -- took a good 15-20 minutes of touching it up before it'd burn evenly, but the taste was worth it: excellent leathery flavor with hint floral and cedar. It got a bit soft on me towards the end, but that's because I was gnawing on it too much, I suspect.

Cohiba Siglo VI -- Finished the long night of chain smoking with the Siglo VI. I have to admit, I enjoyed this cigar, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by it compared to the Siglo V. I also expect to have my socked knocked off by any cigar that costs $18+ a stick. They are new though, perhaps in a few years they'll come into their own.

All in all, I blazed through quite a few cigars tonight, and even more cash. Oh well. :)

What was that you posted before about only being "allowed" to smoke 1 maybe 2 a week? You must look like a chimney to burn thru 5 in one night. 2 Churchills are my usual for a poker night.

One night a week, not one cigar. Thus the overindulgence. ;)

Fantastic lineup Andrew. All are favorites of mine except the Salomones which I've not had the pleasure. The HDM EL is the finest young Havana I've had. Makes me wonder if they'll really improve much ??? Your thoughts on the Sig VI pretty much mirror mine. I allow myself one every few months or so as I think they have a long way to go before they hit their stride.

Yeah, that's the thing -- there wasn't all that much in terms of flavor there to improve upon. I'd assume that they would mellow with age -- if so, they will be enjoyable but really subtle cigars. I guess time will tell!

Why didn't you smoke an Anejo? :)
The only Añejo I had on me, I ended up giving to someone else there to smoke. :/ Oh well.

To threadjack for a moment...

Is it true that Anejos are only made available around the holiday time? They seem even harder to come by than Opus. I had my first one recently and now I'd love to find a source for more.

Yeah they are generally only made available around xMas, but they've also occasionally been made available around Father's Day (which is coming up soon). I know for a fact my local shop will be getting boxes in this week, so if this isn't a special delivery (Fuente was just there for the opening), it looks like Father's Day shipments might be in the works.

and yes, the Añejos are harder to find -- but less well known -- than Opus X's.

Interesting. I'll stop by local shop tomorrow and do some detective work.

just an FYI....a shop does NOT have to be an Opus X dealer in order to get a shipment of Anejos

Cool. The shop I'm thinking of actually is an Opus dealer anyway. Barclay Rex on Broad St. Is Mom's an Opus dealer? I might try to take a drive out there one of these weekends. That used to be my favorite cigar store.

Mmmmmm...Salamones. I fight the urge to spark the one I have up every time I open the Cuban humi. Must...resist....for....two....years.

Thanks for the reviews midget porn lover :)

To threadjack again for a minute, I went by today and as far the guy at the shop knows he will only be getting Anejos in around christmas.

Tony, you're married now. You don't have to pretend or project anymore; you can tell her the truth.

Lets not lose sight of what this thread is about. Tell me more about these young asian women. What do you mean thats not what the thread was about?
