Or at least that's what I've discovered. While doing some routine humidor maintenance ( and trying to correct inconsistencies), the ever-helpful chat members pointed out that polyglycol will in fact plug your beads. Well, we are beyond the "shoulda read more" , period. After a helpful lashing from the chatroom, and my own investigation (results here, should anyone find this post in the future), I discovered that it was very likely I had plugged or ruined or at the very least, made my beads ineffectual.
So, the question now is: Can it be fixed? Can they be cleaned, blasted, dried, super rinsed, boiled? Can you unplug beads? I found a few references saying mixing PG and beads is a bad idea, but nothing to suggest what to do...you know.. if it happens by accident.
My finger is hovering over the button for a half pound of beads, and four 1-ounce tubes. And that will probably go through regardless of these answers, as I only "damaged" a little puck (and have been meaning to upgrade for a while).
Thanks for your input, and I hope this can be a resource to someone else too. Prevention is good, but being able to remedy a bad situation is equally as important.
