I would like your help in ID'ing the cigar. Here is the story:

I went through 4 bundles of the Consuegra Sultan 7.25x54 Maduro last summer/fall. I understand the conversion chart for this second, but I have not tasted all the possibile cigars and now I want to buy a box of the firsts for a treat. The Connies I had were medium to full bodied, smooth, rich, earthy with a doughy/bready/yeast taste and hints of chocolate and espresso. The wrappers were toothy and tough and would take a licking without breaking or flaking.

Do you think these were: ERDM Suprema 7.25x54 Maduro, Excalibur No.1 7.25x54 Maduro, HDM Sultan 7.25x54 Maduro, Bolivar Cofradia No.754 EMS, or JR Ultimate No.1 7.25x54 Maduro.

I know it wasn't the Punch Chateau L's since they do not have that same taste or finish. An Excalibur No.II Maduro and HDM Dark Sumatra Ebano come the closest to the same taste. But I have not had the HDM Sultan to prove it.

I'm still going to get my Connie's, but I would love a box of the real thing. I have to internet order as I'm unable to get out of the home, so I can't try singles from the B&M to nail it.

Can anyone help ID this cigar based on this info.? Thank you.

The connies are probably bits and pieces of all of those. They are all made in the same factory at Villazon. If you want the best bang of the buck, the JR Ultimate 1's in Maduro. They are gauranteed to be at least 1 year old.

Those Connies were NOT seconds of something but were simply Connies. Harris (TheMaster) is correct when he says they are bits an pieces of tobacco from other cigars made in that factory. I'd also recommend those JR Ultimate maduros as Harris did or the double maduros if you liked those Connies or just buy more Connies, they're a great value.

Well I learned something. The Connies are blends. That would explain why I can't nail the ame profile. Thanks. JR Ultimates on sale sound good to me in Oscuro. I hope JR gets the stock of Connies back in.

Thanks a lot guys.

I haven't smoked Connies in a while but they are an excellent inexpensive smoke. Another one that I like are Cuba Aliados which I'm pretty sure are the "Connies" of the La Gloria Cubana factory meaning that they are made from the leftovers and the "seconds" tobacco. Like Connies, they are inexpensive and taste great for an inexpensive smoke.

Could somebody please describe the JR Ultimate 1?
I'm a big fan of the Connie as well.

The Ult 1 is a fantastic Honduran smoke. Rich, sweet and earthy, definitely a medium strength cigar. As far as Honduran cigars go, they are at the top of the list.

I do have the Cuba Aliados regular long filler line not the Cazadores. I like these too. Thanks to The Master.

I did buy the JR Ultimate No.1 Oscuro on sale - great deal $10 off - look forward to smoking them.

Just as an FYI, anything with an EMS (English Market Selection) wrapper can't be a maduro.
