Smoked a couple of cigars last night...this one was definitely review-worthy.

This was a pretty classic churchill size, approximately 7x48-49. It had a dark chocolate wrapper and a pre-light nose of strong earth and peat. It was well constructed with no noticable veins or soft spots.

It lit easily and evenly. The burn was excellent. It did go uneven for a short time, but self-corrected in moments. The smoke was plentiful and thick, very aromatic and pleasant. It stayed cool down to my fingers (they started to get hot and I had to put it down). The ash was solid and not flakey, white and firm. Great performer.

The taste really put to topping on this bowl of ice cream. It started with good wood and coffee flavors with just a hint of spice. This mellowed after the first 1/2 inch and settled into a subtle coffee/charred flavor...yummy. At the 1/2 way point, it developed these great raw cocoa flavors that absolutely burst in the mouth with the coffee. This was a great tasting cigar, medium-to-full bodied, but not strong.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one and can highly recommend it.

Pinars have been discussed. You musta gotten the only good one out of the box! Search and see what all we've said.

Went back and read some of the posts on the Pinars. Kind of surprised. I don't go for the "made only with pre-embargo tobacco"...think that is a bunch of bull. After talking with the owner of the store, pretty darn sure it is. In any case, I've smoked the robusto, belicoso, churchill, and own a box of toros (my favorite size in this brand). Not had a bad one yet. I guess it's just about taste and what works.

Guess it is a good thing that I've not sent any out with trades. :p
