Okay... First let me apologize for starting a new thread on this particular cigar. However, after reading all the previous reviews on the Pinar (good and bad), I asked for -- and received -- a Pinar 3000 Churchill to do my own taste test (thanks to eshaw). I promised to post my review here, so here it is:
The cigar was a chocolate color, with okay construction. The appearance was fair, but there were some rather large veins all along the stick.
The stick took a punch well and fired up with no problem. The smoke just poured off the thing after only a few puffs, both off the foot and from the punch. There was more smoke coming off of this thing than any other smoke I've ever had.
But that's where the good ended and the bad took over. This thing was so spicey it was like smoking a jalapeno pepper. After two minutes my tongue and mouth were burning. And the taste was just awful... but I fought threw it for another couple of minutes thinking that it would mellow out and settle down. Not to be... before long the burning sensation had traveled into the back of my mouth and down my throat. I hate to say this, but it was the same feeling I get after tossing chunks -- you know, when the acid has had a chance to eat at the back of your throat? Well, that's what it felt like.
Needless to say, I gave up on the stick pretty quick after that. I don't think I smoked an inch of the thing before calling it quits. After putting it out, my mouth continued to burn for about twenty minutes. Now, an hour and a half later, it still tastes like I've been licking an ash tray all day.
All I can say is that if you guys like these, more power to you. I'd also guess that you problably smoke cigarettes as well as cigars, cause the taste of a cigarrette is about the closest taste-wise that I can compare this to. (Other than the jalapeno...)
Eric, thanks again for passing one of these along to me... you rat bastid.
j/k, of course... the other sticks you sent along more than make up for the pain of this particular experience.
