Picking up a new humidor

Well, like it says. I'm in the market for a new humidor. I'm looking for something for on top of my black dresser. My room is decorated in an Oriental theme. I'm weird when it comes to things matching. I currently have a 20-50 count humidor. I'll keep it around since it's been in the family for a while. Anyways, I'm picky on what I want. I want something with a lift out tray, lock & key and a drawer that doesn't pertain to the humidor. I'd like a glass top, but that is no longer a requirement. I'd like an analog hygrometer on the outside. I've done more reading then I can even start to tell. I picked up my Xikar digital hygrometer along with the 250 Xikar humidifier crystal kit and PG Solution. I'd like to get a humidor in the 150 count range. This what I think I've decided on. If you have any thoughts or recommendations, I'm more then happy to hear them.

I think thats a good looking humi myself. I need to get something bigger also, but I would prefer glass top also. I just know there are potential problems with maintaining a constant RH with glass top

I've been told there isn't. I just don't see that being possible. If it catches any light, it's going to warm more then a closed humidor.

I've been thinking if I should go for a slightly larger humidor.

I went straight from desk top humidor to coolerdor, but really you have to suit your storage to your buying habits. If you're still buying singles and samplers and not smoking too often then that will probably be fine, especially since you're trying to match it to your furniture.

Very nice looking humidor. I have a 100ct glass top I got from my B&M. I have no issues maintaining a pretty constant RH using Heartfelt beads.

At my b&m they mark units with small defects 50% off (mine has a little scratch on the back). I would recommend checking your local if cost is any concern. Often they have a nice selection and it's always nice to support them when you can.

My final recommendation would be to buy bigger than you think you need. A sentiment that is often echoed by the folks here. I rapidly outgrew my desktop shortly after joining CP. Now it holds a few singles while my 120qt cooler does the real storage.

I live in Overland Park, KS. The closest cigar shop is 105th and Metcalf. Which is about 15 minutes away. I might go by the outlaw this afternoon. It's north of the river. About 45 minutes to be exact.

I have seen a few posts on here where people were having issues with the RH in their glass top. One guy even decided to use silicone to get a better seal at the glass. I think for the most part you won't have an issue, but there is the potential.

That's a great looking humi, and ironically enough its the exact one I am planning on upgrading to. One day I hope to have the need to go MUCH bigger, but at the moment, at least for the next year, I don't see myself buying more than a few sticks here and there so I don't need the ability to store as much as some of the guys around here do. Where did you find it, and how much do they have it listed for? The cheapest I could find it so far was for about 92 but I didn't save the link and cannot find it again, right now the cheapest I can find it is 100 at http://www.humidorvault.com/The-Solana-100.../hum-solana.htm. If you decide to get it let me know how it works out for you because more than likely that will be what I upgrade to as well.

Amazon!!!! $92.00. I'm content with that. :) I sure will. I hope to have it in a few weeks. I keep throwing money into my photography.
