Ok another newbie review and sorry no pictures

Cigar-Perdomo Habano Corojo Presidente

Wrapper-Corojo

This cigar contains 3 blends Esteli, Condega and Jalapa.

Apperance-Very nice looking cigar with a very nice cap.

Problems started right away I carefully tried to remove the foot band and it tore the wrapper which made the 1st few draws a pain in the arse.

The draw was excellent plenty of thick powerful smoke I found very strong. I noticed a heavy wood taste for the 1st 3rd of the cigar. The second 3rd of the cigar started to produce some powerful peppery spice flavors again very strong. The draw was still excellent and thick smoke.

At about the half way point started to have some uneven burns which corrected fairly easily and also the ash was a very flakey type of ash which did not hold well and was constantly falling off.

The last 3rd of the cigar did not mellow remained very strong with a black pepper taste and started to get a little hot.

I was somewhat disapointed in this cigar I do enjoy strong cigars but this was a little to much. I bought it for $7.50. I do believe with down time this could be a good cigar, not sure if downtime will help the ash issue or not. I also hope I just had a bad foot band because it tore the wrapper off right to the binder. I am also going to give the maduro a whirl and hope for a better result.

Best Regards
Don

Thanks for the excellent review  . I haven't smoked a Perdomo of any sort in years. I've never found one I liked. I've heard several people praise the Lot 23, but I've lost interest in the brand. Thanks for an honest assesment!

I recommend the Presidente in the Maduro wrapper. Never had a burn problem with them and it's got great flavor to it. Sorry yours didn't match up. I suggest trying the Maduro.

Don,

Good review. I've heard mostly uncomplementary comments about Perdomo. I've got a Reserve Torpedo and a Lot 23 Churchill in the humidor. I'll light up one of them later and let you know how it goes....

Excellent review. Not surprised by your conclusions. You won't find many folks here who care for Perdomo cigars.

Doc.

I'm not a humongous Perdomo fan, but those sticks have had their moments. I've tried a couple of the maddies in this line, and, after they had been in one of my humis for a just a few months, fared better than they did when I was gifted one and lit it up in a local B&M here. On the whole though, I don't generally go for much in the Perdomo line.

Great review by the way.

Yes I am going to give the maduro a shot I will try anything at least once :D

I smoked the Lot 23 Churchill Natural this evening. Started off not too bad, nothing special but enjoyable. About 1/2 way through though it turned evil, burning hot with a very strong taste. I tried to push through hoping it would get better but I had to let it go out.

My 1st Perdomo and it's already on my "not" list. :(

Maybe the Reserve Torpedo will be better.

I'd have to agree with Isy here. I've tried these in both wrappers a few times. The Maduro was more to my liking. The Lot 23 robustos I tried didnt suck, and one was very good. That one I smoked in the morning.

I liked Perdomo Habano series before I joined CP and was introduced to a whole new world of cigars. So recently I went back and tried the Maduro offering of the Habano line and I still like it. Priced around $5 I think, it's a decent cigar. Now, if they could just get their price under the Padron 2K....... :whistling:

I smoked the Reserve Champagne Torpedo this morning and although it wasn't bad it wasn't good either. Just an average smoke IMO. Boring from start to finish.

The first Perdomo lot 23 maddie I tried was harsh,no good flavors, kinda bitter I didn't like it at all.......after a few months in the humi I gave it a second chance ,tried another and to my suprise it was good lots of chocolate , cedar and harshness mellowed out, not bad at all.
