Perdomo ESV 1991 Phantom Maduro 4 1/4 x 52
This Nicaraguan maduro has a brown, thinly veined wrapper and a slight split at the foot. Single cap clips nicely and prelight smells faintly cocoa. I get an even light and the first draw produces a good amount of smoke that also tastes of cocoa. Ash is light gray and burn very straight. I'm smoking this with my morning coffee with which it pairs well.
Very sweet aroma and taste an inch in. At an inch and a half I knock the ash off and must take off the large band to avoid burning it. Taste is turning more nutty now.
Just past halfway now and not much change. Burn still straight but getting a bit hot. Still the same taste which isn't bad but nothing to write home about.
At the nub and flavor still good with no bitterness. Not a bad cigar but not a great value at around $8/stick. I would buy them at half that price because the flavor was merely ok even though the construction was outstanding.
Rates a solid 8 of 10.
