but why oh why does it have to be in their most expensive smoke?
Fired up the toro I got from Mike (thanks, bro, I really owe ya for this one) this AM. Beautiful day, about 60 degrees, no wind. The lone yellow jacket that seemed to find this cigar as delicious as I did finally went off to do some nest-building.
Punched it, hit it with the triple-flame and it fired up beautifully, another dead even burn to match the LFD I had last night, but a TOTALLY different smoke. A solid ash, about 2 inches long before I tipped it.
I have to say that my nose does more experiencing of a cigar these days than my palate, and this was a real treat! I'm quite at a loss to explain all the various notes: vanilla-flavored coffee, or maybe caramel/butterscotch, then leathery, then floral...
Pre-light aroma was quite cedary, and I'm pretty sure this was a characteristic of the leaf, not the humi--more subtle, if ya know what I mean. Long clean finish, never a hint of bitterness or burning on the lips/tongue.
The only flaw, and a minor one, was that it went out with about an inch to go. Might have had something to do with my frantic ducking to avoid the above-mentioned wasp.
Solid 90+ in the rating area. Now if they could just do this well with their lower-end smokes.....
