Stepped out on the porch (40 degrees and raining) this evening to try this ISOM. Like the Partagas De Luxe I’ve tried before, this one just didn’t do it for me.

The first third was a bit harsh and the entire stick left an aftertaste that reminded me of wet canvas. I didn’t enjoy it until the last inch and half or so.

Maybe the Partaga ISOMs just aren’t for me… Anyone else in this boat or am I paddling solo?

They aren't one of my favorites, but they aren't bad smokes... try a few more before you make up your mind.

LMAO, they are one of my least favorite Havanas. I find them bland and tasteless and depending on how they've been stored, they can indeed be "harsh." Oh Steve, I love the "wet canvas" analogy  TFF!! Now that you mention it, that's pretty close to my experiences with these as well. Thanks for the new line, I hope I have your permission to use it. :D

They have got to be the absolute WORST minuto on the market, SC El Principes and RASCC's are far superior as are BCJ's. However almost everytime I make this statement the Party Short fans start howling so c'mon you Party Short fans, LET'S HEAR IT

I smoked a party short last night also. I thoroughly enjoyed it, not harsh at all. I do like the bcj and rascc better but these are definately not a bad smoke by any means, but what the heck do I know

You know all you need to know ;) If you like them, that's all that matters, who cares what I say

Partagas is one of my least favorite Marcas but I do enjoy a Short from time to time. They can be pretty good with age. Still they are nowhere near as good as the BCJ, Siglo I, PPP or El Principe. I still can't get on board with the RASCC though.

Blasphemy, I hate you

BLASPHEMER!

I hope you realize this means war :p

And by the way, I recently did a blind review of an RASCC and once again I was underwhelmed.

Well that's 'cause ya ruined your palate by smoking one of those Party Shorts first. Steve's right, they taste like wet canvas

Ahh a rare moment of truth! :p I still need to get a box of those el principes to try out, only smoked one so far so not sure what to think of them yet.

Yep, I find that it's good to smoke at least a fiver of something before you give it the final thumbs up or thumbs down. I've made that mistake too many times in the past :( For instance, the first time I smoked and Opus X, I said "What's the big deal with these?" Then a few months later I tried another one and was not that impressed. Tried a couple more a few months later and thought they were great

I'd suggest that you get a box and smoke five to ten. If you decide you realy DO NOT like them, you'll be albe to sell the balance of the box or fivers very easily here ;)

Yea, I'd say at least try a fiver. Partagas and shorts in particular are on of my favorites. I know there are many cigars that my opinion on has changed over time with. The PSD4's are my favorite of the paragas line, but I really like the shorts as well. Did a split on them a while back and really liked them. They do get better after a while as well, although perhaps thats just me because I don't remember letting them last long enough to age really.

Give them another try sometime, perhaps from a different box and maybe you'll like them a little better. More for me if you don't though.

Looks like I'll have to try 'em again, then... thanks for the input and the great advice.

Have recently tried only one each of the Partagas Short, Cohiba Siglo I, RASCC and even a Troya Corona in searching out what I like in this range of sizes. The Short was actually quite nice and I couldn't quite put my finger on what that taste was but "wet canvas" does come awfully close :p .

BTW, I was quite impressed with the Troya Corona and do need to add some of these to my humidor.

Shorts no bueno. Nor is the BCJ. I like my Siglo I. RASCC, El Principe... good, but not great.
