My girlfriend and I went to our local cigar friendly restaurant (there are only 2 in Charlottesville) for drinks last night before dinner. We both lit up Partagas Series D No. 4s (February 2004). I paired mine with a Basil Hayden and sat back to enjoy.

The draw on this cigar was phenomenal. It was easy and light without feeling like I was pulling on a straw. It produced mouthfuls of heavy smoke, dense and aromatic. I like a cigar that hides my head in a cloud of smoke...this one did not disappoint. The burn was cool and, for the most part, even (required a couple of minor corrections). Smoked it down to the point where I could no longer hold it.

The flavor was out of this world. It started with some heavy coffee or espresso flavors, straight forward. At the mid-point there were some hints of charred wood and raw cocoa...yummy. As the cigar progressed, the flavors became more complex and it ended with some great cedar notes mixed with the charred wood. Truly a fabulous tasting smoke.

The aroma of these cigars was heady, light and pleasant. I just can't find a single negative about the entire smoking experience. I can't wait to put some age on these...they should be out of this world in about 2-3 years.

All in all, a most pleasurable experience.

Therein lies the problem, not smoking them until they age that long. You're a better man than I if you can do it. :p
