OK, smoked this puppy Wednesday night with jingles and LC. Fact is, we burned one apiece, so I hope they will add their reviews to this. Now, down to business.

This was a good looking cigar, with a medium-brown wrapper. There was on pretty serious seam and one appreciable vein. The pre-light nose smells of young tobacco, with big earth/manure/peet aromas. The pre-light draw was slightly firm.

The cigar lit easily and the draw opened up almost immediately. This topedo produced nice amounts of medium-to-full bodied smoke, though the smoke was not particularly thick. The Serie P produced a medium-gray ash that was fairly firm. The cigar burned even throughout and stayed cool right down to my fingertips. Very good construction.

The initial tastes were of leather with a definite coffee undertone. There was a slight roughness to the smoke, perhaps due to a lack of age. After about 1/2 inch, some cocoa came out and the cigar soon settled into the typical Partagas richness. At around the mid-point, a tanginess appeared that I once again chalked up to the youngness of the tobacco. It quickly disappated and the cigar settled into rich coffee mixed with leather and wood for the home stretch. Very good cigar.

This cigar performed very well despite its age (FEB 05). It burned great and tasted wonderful. I can only imagine how good these are going to get with months or years in the humidor. Even now, though, I have to rate this cigar an A with the potential to become an A+ in the near future.

^^^ Yeah, what he said. :p Seriously though, I don't have the refined palate of Scot so did not pick up on the subtleties. That said, I know a young cigar when I taste it and this was young. Good, but too young. I agree that with age these are going to be great cigars.

Nice review. Sounds like they may be similar to a freshie PSD4. That's a good thing.

Very similar IMHO.

Similar to a young PSD #4???

I'm gonna have to get me some then

Nice review Dawg! :D

I totally agree that these could use a bit of age! For the most part, I would say these are fairly similar to the PSD #4. Dawg said he got an aroma of peet on the pre-light nose; I got the taste of peet near the finish (it's one of the few flavors I can really pick up; maybe it's an Irish thing!).

Thanks to jingles for the split!

Looking forward to seeing some more reviews soon!

Patrick
