This is a Partagas No. 16 (in the Cuban factory), has a 50 ring gauge and 6.7 inches in length.
These came out in dress boxes of 25 cigars. 2004 was a great year, along with this Partagas release, there was also the Cohiba Sublime.
Let’s get started… (And forgive my iPhone pictures; they do not do this cigar justice)
This beautiful cigar has a very dark Maduro wrapper; it is hard and smooth to the touch, and looks oily and delicious.
Pre light: Perfect draw with cedar, leather and a bit of spice.
1st Third: Starts out a bit mellow with an earthy sweet flavor, I get leather and spice on the retrohale. The oil coats my tongue immediately with a smooth lasting finish.
2nd Third: There is more leather and earth, but now with the addition of wood and a nice chocolate presence. I am starting to get a little more pepper in the retrohale, while it is still staying very smooth and creamy. Very nice so far…
Last third: Really getting its legs now. The cigar is now full bodied but still very smooth and creamy. I am getting a really nice dark chocolate, earthy flavor, without having to retrohale. With the retrohale, I am getting some coffee flavors now, with rich toasted nuts. The delicious finish really stays with you.
Amazing flavors with an ever changing profile throughout the length of this cigar…
This was arguably one of the best cigars I have smoked in my 16 years of smoking...
