The pce is a 5x42 as a typical cuban mareva. The wrapper color is medium brown and slightly rough. The construction is pretty close to perfection.

As I light this up it gives off a cedary/floral room bouquet. The flavors on the first third were muted. After that it opened up and displayed a very standard partagas profile of bitersweet cocoa and nuts with a small sprinkiling of spice. It produced a good amount of smoke and was above average in terms of strength for a petit corona in my experience. The flavor seemed to come and go. At times I was bored and at others I remembered why I started smoking in the first place. Great moments were fleeting and I was left wanting more.

Overall I think these have good potential but I don't think I'll pick up another box just yet. Hopefully they just need some aging to bring out some depth. Mar 08 is very young for most partagas in my experience, this is no exception. I'll revisit in a year or so.

Thats probably the most your going to get out of those. Its a good "budget" cc that gets the job done.

Thanks for the review

These are a great smoke for the price imho. I burned through a box last year. For a cheap, all hand rolled cigar they can be very enjoyable when you don't want to commit to a CC. Party flavors in these hit/miss smokes make them easy to pull the trigger on. Come to think of it... I need to get some more!

Finish is a little off though... :whistling:

I have never tried these but I'm a fan of this size cigar lately. Mostly because of the dammed winter  but maybe I will give these ones a try.

I have a box from MAR 07 and so far the few I have smoked didn't draw too well and I couldn't get a whole lot of flavor out of them. Personally I like the Jose Piedra Cremas a lot more and they are cheaper than the Partagas.

Wow really? I mean these arent great by any stretch, in fact I probably wouldn't buy another box considering the competition, but cremas?

There isn't much I like less than JLPs and cremas are about my least fav. But I know i'm in the minority. Lots of people really like these. i just wonder why sometimes.

I like JLP's for that price point. Granted it's my budget smoke but for the price they are pretty good flavour wise. Construction on the other hand can be hit and miss. The cremas or OK but my favourite as of late has been the petite cazadores. For $3 a stick you can't go wrong.

I jumped on a box of dip #4s. These and SCDLH el principes are more to my liking lately for some reason.

Funny you should mention those. I had my first one of these a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it.

I grabbed a box of juan lopez pcs and a box of upmann regalias this week. SCDLH was also high on my list of smokes but it lost this time.

The box of Partagas Petit Corona Especiales arrived this week. I haven't had time to smoke one yet but upon preliminary inspection it likes like I 'may' have some draw issues on some of them. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid like I usually am about plugged smokes.
