Back in July, I was lucky enough to win a contest put together by Azoetia. One of the cigars in the prize pack was A Partagas Lusitania from 1998. This stick was huge, 7 5/8 x 49. A very impressive looking smoke. It wa sso big, I didn't feel comfortable putting it in my desktop vertically. So, I laid it horizontally, and lined up PC's underneath it to try and keep things even.

Obviously, a cigar of this magnitude was going to take some time. And with the Hartford Herf approaching, I figured a nice afternoon indoors amongst friends would be the perfect place to set flame to foot. I brought the cigar with me fully intending on doing a review. I had my camera in hand, and a pen and paper in my bag.

Well, unfortunately, that plan went right out the window once I started to smoke this thing of beauty. She lit fairly easily, and after a couple of draws, she was burning perfectly. So much thick, wonderful smoke from the cigar. Full of tastes I've never had the pleasure of experiencing before. I was enjoying it so much, I didn't want to focus on the cigar too much and do the review. So, I have to apologize. It was just too damn good. I wanted to relax, enjoy it, and talk with some of the CP crew. Some I've met before - Rob and Jeff, and their friend Chuck, others I met for the first time - Jim, Gary, Bill and Howard, and one guy, Aaron, who we told about CP, and said he would be signing up soon. I also got to meet Neil, the gentleman the auctions are being held for down in the BST forum. Very nice guy. Wish I was able to bid higher on the lots down there.

While I really can't describe the cigar as well as I should for the review, maybe some pictures can better tell the story.

Looks like I'm high there...

Dave, I want to thank you again for the chance to smoke this cigar. It was truly an incredible experience. I just wish I would have been better able to share it with you guys.

Niiiiiiice

They are a pretty damn good smoke, albeit a little mild for a partagas. Was your's from a cab or a dress box?

Nice Tom! I have 2 Lusi's from '98 that I'm trying to hang onto for when my son is old enough to smoke one with me (his birth year).

You did look like you were high in that last clip.

Thanks for sharing Tom. I've got a few of these one from 98, and a couple from 91,or 92.

I don't think he was high but I understand now why he kept touching himself during the HERF.

Tom,

Thanks for sharing your experience - I am so glad you enjoyed it. I'm sure I speak for all, or certainly most, of us - no need to worry about the lack of a written review. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and your pictures say a lot

Mike - it was from a cab.

Jonesy - enjoy yours as they are from the same cab as the one Tom smoked :D

These are very nice. I usually have one -not always with age- in the morning on the golf course!

Great stuff!

That doesn't look like a 7 5/8 x 49 stick. Did you cut off and smoke little pieces? :whistling:

Always been a fan of the Lusitiana. I love my bigger vitolas, mainly because I am never in a rush to smoke my stogies, and I feel cheated with smaller sizes.

Old-Havana comes out to play with this cigar. I think you must have gotten a newer stick, because these never used to be mild at all! I have heard, though, that the new ones were tones down for a modern consumer. Pfft. What 'modern' consumer is going to have a stick this big anyway. Robustos are all the trend with hip smokers apparently.
