Partagas Lusitania and a mystery!

While watching the Bills get punked at my local shop, I've been smoking a couple of seegars:

Partagas Lusitania 2001 -- clipped this big boy with a V-cut, didn't get the draw I was happy with, so I clipped it with a cutter, and smoked it for a while. Nice cinnamon hints, a leathery flavor, and hints of bitterness as well. The draw was too tight despite re-cutting it, which I think may have greatly impacted the cigar's flavors. It was pretty boring, and unfortunately unlike some very good Partagas Lusitania's I've had. I pitched it halfway through, got tired of sucking so hard on the cigar. I took this cigar right out of a box pass, so it may have been too humid.

RicMac's Mystery Cigar #2 -- I've no idea what this cigar is; it looks like a nice golden brown petit corona. Cut it with the V-cut, and the draw was a very nice contrast to the Lusi -- very easy draw. Really nice flavors from this cigar too; a very slightly spicy, almost minty aftertaste, with musty undertones of mushrooms or earthy leather. This is a very nice smoke -- what the heck is it, RicMac? Looking forward to finding out what it is. My guess it is a relatively inexpensive but wonderful cigar.

The mystery cigar was brought to me by my future in laws from Spain. The info on their website is listed:

Condal no. 3
5.5 x 41
Filler : Havana, Dominican Republic, Brasil
Binder : Mexican
Wrapper : Connecticut Claro

Not an expensive cigar. Don't remember how much. Around $3 or $4 if I recall correctly.

I figured you probably had never tried a Spanish cigar so it would be something different. Glad you enjoyed it.

Aren't Condals Canary Island smokes? Like Penamils? Never had one but I used to get a newsletter from a vendor that caried several lines.

Well, it's a damn nice smoke, RicMac! You should have 'em ship you a box of 'em! ;)

Had another one during the Packers game...

Davidoff Millennium Blend Perfecto No.1 (8 1/2" x 50) -- This Davidoff Perfecto Double Corona was part of a limited edition box of cigars released by Davidoff in 2000 to celebrate the introduction of their Millennium Blend line of cigars. Since I love the MB line, I figured this Perfecto No.1 would be a treat, especially with 4+ years of age on it. And a treat it was. A lovely balance of cane sugar sweetness with a wonderful vanilla bean leathery flavor with hints of macadamia nuts and very subtle spices to round things out. Exquisite, and it only got better as it burned down the long length of this cigar.

Have a friend here in Miami who is a relatively famous singer (salsa) that frequently goes to the Canary Islands to perform. He is constantly bringing these back in case anyone is interested. I'll see what I can do. Not promising, but definitely will see what I can get. :)
