Partagas Lonsdale (1999) -From a cab-
What a great looking cigar. Construction was nearly flawless and had a oily medium brown wrapper with no veins, some plume and the triple cap was perfect. I clipped the cap and the prelight draw was excellent.
Upon lighting the smoke production was good producing huge clouds of rich aromatic smoke . The cigar burned cool and evenly from start to finish without a single touch up from my trusty torch.
This Partagas was no wimp. It was a powerhouse of a cigar with complexity and refinement. It began with a small amount of sweet spice combined with leather, earth and a fine tobacco finish. As I continued it the richness and so did the strength, adding some hints of fine ground cayenne pepper, sweet tamarind spice, plus bold flavors of moist earth and leather in the finish. Just past the half way point some slight hints of cinnamon baked spice was added to the profile all the while never loosing its strength or refinement. The cigar was powerful but at the same time subtle, refined and never harsh.
This is one of my favorites in the Partagas line and probably my favorite lonsdale. Simply a delight. I can only wonder why they were discontinued.
