Hey all.

I bought a Partagas Black Bravo yesterday to try the Partagas line for the first time. I've heard nothing but good reviews about it on the net. i.e., The Stogie Review, Cigar Jack's, PuffingCigars, etc...

All of these guys say that the Partagas is tightly constructed, but should have a good draw.

Well the one I got was way to tight, I was struggling on get any smoke  and it was like that the whole way through.

Any comments?

So I take it this stick was fresh from the shop? If so, maybe the humidity was set to high in the walk-in and swelled the tobacco making it tight inside it's wrapper. Just a thought, but that might be the culprit.

Also, if a cigar is too tight while you're smoking try massaging it from foot to head checking for plugs and tighness. If you feel anything just work your fingers around the plug and you might be able to loosen it up. I had this same problem a couple days ago with a DPG Blue at the head. I worked it around in my fingers and VOILA, plug was gone.

BTW... I smoked the Black line about 1.5 years ago and really enjoyed it. It was a nice median smoke for me at the time since I was just getting into smoking. Next, try the Punch Champion. It's a nice little Figurado that I really enjoyed while fishing.

I might have just gotten a bad one. I tried an Oliva yesterday also and it smoked great (from the same walk in humidor).

I'm still experimenting to find my tastes. I've been trying several Maduro's lately.

1. Fuente Rothchild Maduro
2. Oliva series G Maduro
3. D Pepin JJ select
4. the Partagas
5. LGC Series R Maduro
6. LFD Cab 250 - Recommended by JHolmes763
7. Padron 2000 Maduro - Recommended by Joho

Out of all of these I really enjoyed the LFD Cab. It was a little lighter but very good. It had a 48 ring gauge which I really liked.

I think that I might prefer a more smaller ring gauge.

I have also enjoyed the Oliva Natural Torp. So maybe I do like a lighter, sweeter taste? Not sure yet. :)
