Panama Cigars - question

My relatives just returned from a trip to Panama. They were kind enough to think of me when they saw some cigars for sale. They came back with two particular cigars that seem to me to be local products. One is called Old Panama. The bands on these cigars appear old, and worn. Very odd. The colour of the bands varies from band to band and leaves me to believe it is a local cigar. I am told the cost is about a $1 a cigar. The other brand is Joyas De Panama with Hecho a Mano on the side of the band.

Anyone have any knowledge about these particular cigars? I graciously accepted them and have them in my humidor to refresh them after the trip.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Hoping Santa brings each of you a wonderful hand rolled creation.

Hey Gavin, check your PM. Happy New Year to you by the way.

I pulled one of the Joyas de Panama out of the humidor. Not a bad cigar. I would say it was a medium bodied cigar. It somewhat reminded me of some Perdomo's I have had in that there was a mild earthy/peat taste that finished with the taste of a mild spice.

It burned very well, firm ash.

I wouldn't consider myself a hard core cigar critic compared to some of the more experienced guys here, but I enjoyed this one.

I also had the other one. Not a bad smoke. Would be an okay cigar with a good ale.
