Padron Porn

Which cigars did I happen to enjoy the most? Well, funny thing. I brought an Opus X along because I've only had one other in my life so this was the time to spark up another. I was pretty excited. The evening campfire was lit. Drink was in hand. I fought that darn thing to keep lit for nearly half an hour. It's been in my humidor under perfect conditions for over a year. What's going on here?! Well, needless to say, I got tired of trying and had to give up.

I keep reading different people saying they can't keep Opus lit. I've never had a fight with an Opus X as far as keeping it lit. On occassion I'll have a wrapper burn a little crooked on me, but never had this problem. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Could be me. I'm new to the Opus line.

It's just funny to me that I stored the Padrons in the same way as the Opus and I had much more trouble. I'd pause a minute or so on the Opus and then no smoke would draw. Very strange.

With the Padron 2K I had to get up and discipline my 2 year old for throwing sand, took him in the house, came back out and drew a big puff of smoke even after it sat for probably 3-4 minutes.

Seemed strange to me too. No biggie. I haven't by any means given up on the Opus X. I'll buy a few more and let them sit for a bit.

My only point was that more funds or more expensive cigars don't make a more memorable evening guaranteed.

On the other hand, my favorite smoke ever was a Anejo shark. Close behind that was a Padron 1926 #9. Not 5 cent cigars by any means.

You're just about the 3rd person I've heard describe the same problem with Opus in the last couple of weeks.

As far as Padron, I've yet to have construction issues with any of their cigars. Occassionally I'll get a slightly loose draw on the x000 series, but nothing that really effects the way the cigar smokes. The '26 and '64 are both great.

I think I just got done reading a thread you are referring to. Again, I thought maybe humidity was an issue but funny that they've been stored in 65/65 for so long I figured they'd both smoke with no issues.

I'm sure Opus X is all a cigar can and should be. I'm looking forward to be being blown away by them in the future.

I have to echo Brent's statements. I've NEVER had a problem keeping an Opus lit. You sure you guys are lighting it? :p Also remember, if you let a cigar sit with a newly knocked off ash for like, 15 minutes, then yes it will probably go out...

Ha! So that was my problem! I wondered why it stayed the same length and never burned shorter. Huh. Learn something new everyday. :D

The Soulman has those steel colored, beady eye from all the shamus operations he has been on. Takes a keen eye to notice a ash at 1/2 mile with bullets flying over your head. :p
