Well, I have to say that August was the greatest month I have experienced in my lifetime. My first daughter Addison was born on the 3rd, my mother in-law’s birthday was on the 23rd, my birthday was the 24th and my sister in-law had her first son on the 30th. I also had the opportunity to meet and smoke with some first class brothers of this board. So needless to say, I had one hell of a month and more than enough opportunities to spark up a special smoke. I have wanted to write a review or at least put my thoughts onto paper for a while and there is no better time to do so than now. I know it is no longer August, but I have been extremely busy.
Construction: This cigar was flawless; I loved the rich dark oils and silky wrapper.
Prelight aroma was something I have never experienced in a cigar; there were whiffs of heavy vanilla and hints of fresh coffee beans.
Once lit the draw could not have been any better. There were plumes of rich chocolate smoke that left a sweet caramel taste on the palate. I enjoyed some 20 year old Taylor Fladgate port with this fine smoke, it add strong flavors of cherry and almond to the palate.
Half way through the smoke I started to get strong taste of cocoa followed by light tingling taste of spice. This is where I started to notice a change in taste, I don't know if it was the port, but I really started to savor and enjoy this great cigar! The cigar had this strong and intense smoke that really added to my enjoyment. I have never been able to sit there and take whiffs of smoke, but with this you could smell the beautiful work that went into this tobacco.
Towards the end of the cigar, the smoke started to mellow out. I don’t know if that was because the tobacco leafs were wetter or if the cigar was tight towards the end. I was still enjoying the deep rich cherry and chocolate flavors that engulfed my mouth. The cigar began to get a little hot, but not over bearing. I could see the oils coming to the surface, it only made me appreciate the cigar even more.
My overall impression of the Millennium was WOW; this was probably one of the best cigars I have ever had the opportunity to smoke, thanks to Uncle Brian (Jonesy). I was disappointed to put this down, but every fine cigar has to come to an end sometime. Cigars like this are why people smoke them on special occasions.
