Its been quite some time since I have given any kind of review on cigars, and the experience I had yesterday for new years eve was a great one, so I figured I would share.

The Smoke....A Padron Millenium that was gifted to me last year when I first signed up on the site. I knew that the Padron Milleniums were hard to come by, so I've been holding onto this one for quite some time.

My wife and I headed over to Hickory, NC to hang out with some friends for the New Year. I knew all weekend that I wanted to smoke the Padron, so I was trying to figure out the best possible time and place to enjoy it. My buddy greg suggested that we go to the Hickory Tap Room. Great Place! Kind of has that English Pub type feel to it, and they have a very large selection of Beers and Scotches! So we get there and sit down and I look around and check the place out. It really was a cool pub! It just had that comfortable feel too it, and they even have a decent humidor in the back. We order up a couple of Scotch Ale beers and pull out the smokes!! I was going to smoke the Padron, my buddy had an Opus X Perf. No. 4.

Upon pulling the Padron out of its package and taking a good look at it...first impressions were that it was definitely a Padron Cigar and I was very anxious to light this one up. Just the overall construction of any Padron product is Top Notch, and this was no different. Every Padron I have ever smoked has been great, and I knew this one would be as well. As I cut the end off, I really started to get anxious. I quickly toasted the end and then lit it up. Initial draw may have been just a tad bit tight, but it smoothed out within the first few minutes. Now I don't get too in detaill about specific flavors of the cigar, etc. but all I can say about this one was that it was everything I hoped it would be. I never had to relight it, the burn was nice and even and the draw was perfect. I smoked this one down to the finger tips.

What really made the experience good though was just being in that pub with my wife and friends. The scotch ale was a first for me, and it was friggin awesome. I'll be making regular trips back over there Just for that beer! It really went well with the Cigars.

Great cigar, great friends, great beer, great pub.....great experience!

The Smoke....A Padron Millenium

That's all I needed to hear to hate you :(

Glad to see you had a great time with such a wonderful smoke.

Ok Erick, I have to know...

How much different was it compared to the 1926 line?

They look almost the same.

Nice account, Erick!

I had a Serie 1926 on the deck last night and it was a spicy, leathery powerhouse. Man, just a delicious cigar.

Millennium....humph! Just kidding....glad you liked it.... I have one I've been hanging onto, waiting for a "special" occasion to blaze it up.

From the x000 series to the 64's and 26's and the even rarer vitolas.....I think these guys have one of if not the most consistent line of smokes there are. One of my "go to" lines of smokes, to be sure.

Best Regards - B.B.S.

I had a 1926 #9 maduro on new years and put the nub in my pipe to finish it. Like B.B.S. said, they are hands down one of the best cigars made.

i had my fisrt millenium at our christmas party a few weeks ago where i gifted all our employess one as well. i thought about writing a review, but figured it wouldnt do it justice. all my review would say is "the best cigar ive ever smoked...period."

btw, there is one of these cigars in the back of a post office delivery truck as we speak..... :whistling:

This is one cigar that has me very intrigued now I know why!

I agree... great smokes... I gotta crack open some more soon.

Sounds like a fantastic smoke Hillbilly. This sounds like a cigar worthy of the very best of life's special occasions. Thanks for the review!

Totally different animal IMO. I've had my share of the milleniums and find them to be a more balanced and refined experience than the 26's. Take with a grain of salt because in general the 26's are my least favorite of the upper end padrons.

If I had to compare the Millenium to anyof the other I'd say they compare favorably to the '64 Imperials.

It's too bad these are pretty much gone forever, they were and are most excellent cigars.

They are fantastic smokes, and it is sad that they are gone, however, I can't wait to see what other limited productions Padron puts out in the future. The bar has been set very high, and I'd like to believe they will try and top themselves.

Great post. You had me wanting to be there sitting in your lap to watch you smoke that Millenium.

WOW, thanks Moki, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I read to the bottom of this thread. Blech!

In my short tenure here I've noticed Moki has an inappropriate picture for every occasion.

I was at one of my local B&Ms after work tonight enjoying a smoke, watching the news, reading through some issues of CA. If I remember correctly, there was an article in one of them about Jose' Orlando and Jorge Padron (actually, I think there was an article on them in both of the issues I looked through). In it they documented a conversation had between father and son in which the father was trying to convince the son that it was a good idea to look into "refilling" the Millennium humidors for those customers who bought them. Hmmm....could be interesting...lemme see if I can find it online:

Old habits and familial bonds are hard to break. The Padróns spend most of their time in the shipping area, near one another, or in Josè Orlando's office, talking, reminiscing and laughing. On this day, Jorge and his father are sitting in the chairman's office, smoking short Padrón Serie 1926 No. 35 cigars and arguing over Josè Orlando's complicated plan to restock owners of the Padrón Millennium humidor. Jorge thinks it's a bad idea. It takes more than an hour (plus the advice of two visitors and a call to a trusted cigar retailer) to convince him otherwise. Then it's time to discuss Josè Orlando's upcoming 80th birthday, and a cigar that will be made to commemorate the occasion. How about an eight-inch cigar? Josè Orlando scrunches his face. He doesn't like cigars that long.

I've had 5 of these since they came out and have one left. Wouldn't mind having more available for the future.
