Sat down to smoke my first Padron 4Oth the other night. Cigar was sitting in my humi for about a month. I was really looking forward to this having had great expereinces with all the other types of padrons (000's, 64's, 26's). The look of the cigar is outstanding. Perfect shape with a nice silky/shinny wrapper. Smelled woody and spicy.

Getting this thing lit and getting some good smoke out took some time I guess due to the size. The draw was tight for about 5 minutes then all of a sudden it started smoking great - nice thick gray smoke. Ash was light and dark gray.

From the beginning and throughout the taste was very smooth with spice, leather and cocoa. I expected it to pick up more spice as I went on, kinda like my expereinces with the 26's but it really didn't happen. Overall the taste was good but there was too much smoothness that seemed to limit the flavors.

A good expereince but I'd rather stick with a 64 or 26 even factoring out price.

I'd give it a 8 out of 10 rating.

Wow,I split a box with someone and had no problems. The cigars all smoke perfectly, and are so damn oily, one person I threw one too in a bomb thought it was a maduro.I agreed, they do taste similar.Damn sweet smoke, not too smooth, perfect burn from start to finish.
I still dont like the price but I will pay for it again....I just like bigger cigars than the regular line offers.

Thanks for the honest review.

Coincidently I smoke one of these yesterday as well.

My experience was profoundly different however, as I enjoyed the cigar very much. I had not smoked any Padrons since the Padron event on KC earlier this year. That may have influenced my judgment...

Just goes to prove "different strokes for different folks".
