Loads of coffee and just straight, good old top notch tobacco. Cheap, not fancy in the least, a bit ugly, just a simple band to adorn it, and a perfect draw. You'd be hard pressed to find a better cigar for a similar price, that is consistently delicious.

I'm sitting outside on the patio tonight, enjoying the warm, slightly humid summer air that good ol' Southern California is getting right now. A Padron 2000 Nattie coupled with a glass of home made apfelwein, while perusing CP and a brewing forum makes for a great Friday night. After a particularly long and tiresome week, I needed this.

I'm only a third of the way in, and I am already considering getting a second 2000 out of the humi once this one is done.

Hardly a long, well thought out and well written review, but, sometimes you just have to blurt out, "Damn, that's good....!"

I wish I had this same experience with the Padron I smoked yesterday, but unfortunately that was not the case. I have several suspected reasons for this, which are in the "Today's Smoke" thread. I'm hoping I either smoked it too soon upon arrival or that I got a dud in the fiver, because it was almost un-smokeable. Toast had some good words for me, and he very well may be right. I'm going to give it a second (or third) chance before I really make up my mind. I don't think I've read a bad word on the Padron '000's before I tried mine yesterday. I'll call a spade a spade, but I'd hate to be the first!

Taste is subjective, which is something you will see repeated often on these boards.

That being said, don't write these off yet. Like you said, if you smoked it too soon after getting it in the mail, that could affect the taste, or it could not. :) These pair nicely with a cup of coffee, also.

I still find myself reaching for these as much or more than anything else in my humidor. Hard to beat for the price.

I'd bet you dollars to donuts that it had a loose draw and you overheated it.

Doc.

First one I ever had, right around the same time I really started to get into the hobby, I had this same problem. 2nd one I smoked, I slowed down, took slow draws, and it was fantastic. Haven't had a bad one since.

Once again, Doc speaks the truth. ;)

Quite possible. I don't recall the draw, per se, so it was not remarkably tight or loose. I'll definitely keep this in mind and pay attention to how I'm smoking it next time. Thanks, Doc!

+1
One of the first "learning curve" take aways from CP for me was to slow down. Huge difference! Really made the whole experience more relaxing, enjoyable and tasty.

Actually, I have absolutely no complaints on the whole X000 line. I've enjoyed them, all of them.

I smoke the 3000 maduros and londres maduros all the time. I've had a few rough ones but the majority are great.

Stay away from the family reserve and anniversary Padrons or you'll be hooked for sure.

Dale hated the first Padrón he had. A few months later he loved them almost as much as I do.

My plan is to wake up nice and early before the girls one day this weekend and sit outside with a nice cup of coffee and try this again.

Padrons are famous for their loose draw but it's one of the few cigars that I can say that I've never ever had a bad one. The thousands series, imo, I very good cigars for the money.

Loose draw, I would bet, is by design. Watch the old man smoke, he is a sipper. Light puffs followed by a bit more heavier puff. Keeps the cigar cool, and the flavors on spot.

Just bought two Madeira along with two San Cristobal torps. Either way, tasty.

I was a huge 2000 buff but have a box of 3000's in the cabinet now. I'm liking the size a little better. You won't find a better bang for the buck smoke anywhere, IMHO.

As usual, Doc speaks the truth and his comments are spot on. I saw the same thing with the monster 60 ring SI-64's that came out earlier this year. It was very easy to smoke too quickly and overheat them....patience and a smooth, steady draw will usually yield great things.

Cheers - B.B.S.

While I love the 2000's, my favorite is still the Londres. However, that being said, Isy introduced me to a new love, and possible contender for the top spot: Ambassador size, in maduro.

Delicious.

As BBS and Doc say I have to work on slowing down while smoking these. Of course I am a newbie, but just slowing down has made a huge difference in my smoking enjoyment.

I am with BBS as well on the 3000, I just like the size better. The 3000 is fast becoming my daily smoke.

I've found that the you can't be in a hurry if your going to smoke any cigars, but Padron's especially are best if smoked leisurely.
