As requested from the gifter, the review for this awesome cigar is as follows.

It was a dark and stormy night... oh wait, that's another story. :p It was actually a cool and windy night. I decided to smoke this in my upstairs make-shift smoking room. I sit down with my usual glass of purified water... as to have as little interference as possible. Actually, its just because I had gotten back into town and there was nothing else in the house.

I like to smell the cigar before clipping or lighting. This cigar has one of the finest and smoothest aromas around. I used to think the 1964s were good... this was even better. I fire it up, and the initial draw was a little tight. Taste was creamy, but light. About 6 or so puffs, this baby hit it's stride. I just slunk in my chair and relaxed. With the fat ring gauge (56, I believe), the tastes were complex, but not confusing. The smoke was pure and full. The burn was excellent... most likely from not having sat in my sweatshop of a humidor for too long.

Most importantly for me when smoking a cigar is the feeling you get from smoking it. There have been cigars where I pay attention to every puff, not because it was good... but because I'm hoping "this will be the last puff and I can chuck this thing." Not the 1926. I just relaxed and watched tv. Before I knew it, the cigar was getting a little hot in my hand... as it usually does when there's only a nub left.

Score... 9.5 of 10.

Gotta to thank a fellow brother for this awesome cigar. I got another that's being laid down for a while. I can't wait to fire that one up either.

ahhhh, I can so relate to that. You captured it up better than I ever could, thanks!

Excellent review Phishy. As you know I have one of these that has been gifted to me as well. I hate smoking a cigar alone though and have been trying like mad to get this baby smoked at some point when friends are over. It will happen soon though and after your review I'm even more anxious to get this baby fired up.

Excellent description, excellent review.

Good to hear. I figured at least one person was gonna say "hey newbie, have some of your own shut up juice and leave the good cigars for the big boys." :p

I'm sure you guys will love it when you do fire it up. :)

Just smoked my gift this evening.

I was SO impressed with this cigar. It seemed very solid so I was prepared to put this box pressed baby back in the humi for a while if the pre-light draw seemed tight in any way. Man was that not the case. Compleatly the other way in fact. The draw was so light and easy I was now concearned it would be way too light and airy to get the proper flavor.

I sparked it up though and man was that thing perfect. It took the light well and burned even all around and smoke just rolled out of it from the very start. From the very first puff there was just an almost overwhelming amount flavor delivering smoke. From just that first puff on I was absolutly nothing but impressed with the construction of this cigar. Hands down the absolutly most well made cigar I have ever had or even seen. Such a light efortless draw delivering just volumes and volumes of flavor delivering smoke.

Now flavor on the other hand.......... I am such a wuss when it comes to Maduro's. I tend to balk at the really strong stuff sometimes. (Ok guys, you can quite laughing at me any time now!!) The first puff with all that smoke delivered a very strong and I have to say rough flavor of pretty much tobacco taste. I wish I could describe the flavor better but I really suck at descriptions and picking the different nuance flavors out and this was just overwhelming me a slight bit anyway. I have had other very strong cigars such as VSG's and Opus X's but the ones I have liked tended to be very strong yet very smooth. This really seemed very rough at the start.

I continued to smoke and continued to marvel at the construction and all the glorious smoke everywhere. Randyb1 was over smoking with me and kept laughing at my facial expresions. I was so glad I could amuse him so much. Well as I continued on with it it did smooth out quite a bit in very short order. Thank god. Randy asked if it was smoothing out or if my tate buds were just giving up. I couldn't say for certain, but I think it was smoothing out and became a really nice smoke.

As I got down near the end the heat started becoming a little unbearable and the flavor did start turning somewhat unpleasent so I figured that was probably enough after all. I took a last puff and sat the nub down reluctantly but then just happened to notice just how much smoke was comming off of it just sitting there in the cigar tray. Very cool. I never seen so much smoke comming off a sitting stick like that. I had to show Randy and ended up taking another 3 or 4 puffs just playing around with the smoke. By this point I was getting close to needing a clip for it. :D

This was an amazing smoke and a very cool experience. They may be a little steep price wise for a mowing the lawn smoke :D but I would very much like to try a couple more on special occasions from time to time. Very cool smoke, amazing construction.

Aren't they amazing in that regard? So tightly packed, and yet such an easy draw and marvelous burn. Whoever rolls these things is incredibly talented.

As for the flavor, I'm surprised you found it to be strong -- one of the things that impresses me about the 1926's is how flavorful, yet how smooth they are. But like anything else, it is individual taste.

If you decide they are too strong for your liking, I hereby offer my services to take 'em off of your hands! :)

Great Reviews brothers!

They are mighty fine sticks

I can't wait to torch the one marinating in my humi! I had two but gifted one to a friend at my favorite cigar shop, the other one tempts me every day....damn cigar I'll show him and light his ass on fire!!! Oops, sorry I'm just tired of that cigar whispering to me every time I walk by the humi.

Wise words. This topic of saving cigars for some "future event" vs smoking them up has come up in other threads. I have been getting better and just smoking the cigars I want instead of wishing I was smoking what is already in my humi.

Did any of you think they are considerably (twice) better than the 1964's?

Around here the 1926's are about double the price of the 1964's, and I'm curious to know if any of you think they are twice as good as a 1964?

Nope, they are not twice as good as the 1964s. I think it is like anything else -- when you get up to the level of quality we're talking about with the 1964's, you're going to pay double the money for a 20% or so upgrade.

Whether that is worth it to you or not is a personal decision.

I agree with Moki. It actually seems like most people prefer some of the 64s over the 26s. The best of either that I've had was the 26 #2 maduro but I am a big fan of the 64s with big ring gauges. Try the 64 Torpedo
