Went to the casino a few days back. Whole family come along. I brought a PAN 1926 #6, figured a casino is the only place left where you can smoke everywhere. We all split up and right off I pass the gift shop and spy a little stand of cigars. Cheapest one they got is an AF curly head for $6.50. I went on into the casino and made my way to the bar. The place was full of all sorts of people, from farmers coming out the fields in bib overalls, to oats buses bringing in wheel chair and oxygen patrons of the local nursing home. The bar was near empty and I took a seat at one of them electronic poker machines. I pulled out the PAN and used a match from the bar.

Good draw and firm construction. I order a Corona and start playing nickel poker and soon enough the bars full up of people. Wrapper burns good and the smoke is cool, not much taste yet, but it’s still heating up. The machine hits some, and I’m 1/4 of the way into my smoke I’m still on the first five bucks I put into the machine. Got a mouthful of wood now, pretty light and subtle, but constant in my mouth even after I stop drawing on the cigar.

A Lady comes up behind me and orders a glass of wine. She waits over my shoulder and makes a ‘tis’ sound every time I exhale. She don’t say nothing, she know the casino bends over to keep folks attached to the machines so she keeps quiet. The wine comes and it’s in a plastic cup with a $4 price tag. It’s warm, so the lady asks for ice and she waits to get it. I smoke faster and fill the air up as much as I can. When the wine comes back the lady don’t even check to see if it’s cold or not, she just leaves and another person takes her place.

My head hurts. That light wood taste now sits heavily on my tongue and the PAN’s at the half waypoint. The ash is firm and white and sits tightly packed on the cigar. The bartender slid an ashtray from the other side of the bar. I just smiled and slid it back. Smokes still cool and I finish off my beer and my head starts to clear. Soft drinks are free so I ordered a Pepsis and play down till my last nickel runs out and shove a $10 bill into the machine.

An old boy pulls up a seat beside me and reaches into his pocket and out comes one of them AF curly heads from the gift shop. He pulls out a roll of twenties and starts playing $1 poker. The bartender brings over the ashtray and I offer him a light. He unwraps the cigar, taking off the cellophane, then the band and sticks it in his mouth. I ask him if he wants it cut first. He stares at me. He takes the cigar out his mouth and bites the tip off. Filler spills out and long lines of wrapper hang out his mouth along his lips.

Poker machine hits a bit to keep me alive and my mouth is full of a woody, toasty flavor from the smoke. The old boy beside me is down $80 in twenty minutes. He leaves in another ten minutes and I’m left pretty much to myself to finish off the cigar. The smoke comes into my mouth warm and the ash hangs loose so I decide to put the cigar to rest. The after taste stays with me the rest of the day, it’s sweet and light and clings to the roof of my mouth and at the back of my throat. I come away from the casino up $10, along with a view of what makes folks act they way they do, and the sure knowledge that this won’t be my last Padron 1926 .

PAM 1926 #9 review in the pipeline thanks to Shooter

just smoked my 3rd one last night. It was the 1st from a box i bought in june.the singles i bought around that same time were all mild w/ very little flavor.which suprised me considering the taste of the 64 line. Anyway, the one from the box was a totally different beast! The taste of spice and tobacco came out in full force. Definetly, full body, but with little smoothness(suprised again). reminded me of a 3000 with the in ur face flavor and strength. At the half way mark it did settle down and by the last 1/4 it stepped back up a little. That was the best part. The cigar never got hot either..even when i was down to an inch left. Between the gar and the brandy..whew..had to lay it down! Never had that happen. I was punked

Thanks for the great review.

I keep reading great things about these cigars, and they are quickly climbing to the top of my wishlist.
