To start off, this cigar would probably have been rated an extra point or two higher had the first 1/3 been more like the last 2/3's. The cigar noses of sugar cane with the foot having a slight earthy scent. The cigars construction appears to be top notch. The veins are almost imperceptible to touch. The color of this corojo wrapped cigar is a dark brown, nearing the color of a snickers bar.
I sliced the cap and flipped it off, almost screwing up the smoke, but it stayed together throughout the entire event. The first puffs of this cigar upon lighting with my triple flame lighter bring a very dry taste, something I would usually reserve for describing a red wine. There's a big oaky finish with quite a bit of spice. Into the first 1/3 and there's some flavors of fresh hay along with the oak and pepper. The burn is flawless and the draw is very good, if just a bit tight. Into the beginning of the 2/3 and the draw itself is giving a bit of a sweet flavor, only at the draw. This then gives way immediately to the oak, hay, and pepper. The smoke starts to mellow into the 2/3. Before now I can only describe the smoke as having been out of tune. All the flavors were present, but they just didn't seem to go together. As the smoke progresses the flavors begin to compliment each other. Purging the smoke reveals tons of leather flavor for a few puffs and then brings back the oak and spice. There's starting to be some flavors of chocolate, but its not quite there yet.
Into the last third of this smoke and the flavors have all come full circle. The smoke is now a symphony of flavors that melt together on the palette. The spice is still present throughout the smoke, but its subtle. The leather finish is back on top of the oak and hay tobacco flavor. This smoke is really finishing very strong. This smoke is definitely a full bodied smoke that might catch you by suprise. The last 1/3 brings flavors of bittersweet chocolate with oaky and spice.
Overall this smoke was great. The burn was fantastic with a beautiful ash from light to cap. The flavors started off very strong and independant. But as the smoke progressed the flavors mellowed and combined to make a wonderful finish.
