So this was the result of the owner of Padilla himself sending out some of these cigars as part of the launch of his new brand. Nowadays they are widely available. I finally sparked this one and decided I'd review it.

It's been in my humi since the pass..

http://www.cigarpass.com/forums/index.php?...hl=padilla&st=0

The head was coming apart a bit. But probably cos it was naked and moved a round a bit.

Punched it and the prelight aroma was...nothing. The draw is fairly tight for such a large ring gauge, short cigar but adequate.

The taste is fair. Pretty bland but with enough tobacco taste.

the main aspect of this cigar is its spiciness. Very tart on the tongue. As a matter of fact it's a fairly one-dimensional cigar. If you just called this cigar "spicy" that would suffice to explain it.

The burn is very even. the ash is none too firm. you won't win any longest ash contests with it.

Overall not disappointing at all, and a nice gift. I wasn't expecting much though. Definitely wouldn't buy it but I could see where it would please some people for whom spiciness is the main thing they're after in a cigar.

I don't have much else to say. Short, spicy, tighly rolled cigar. Not at all umpleasant to puff on while I mess around trying to find some information on the computer.

Thanks Ernesto. Curious to know if the blend has changed at all since the original release.

Just realized I had reviewed one at the time of the actual pass. I don't know how I got this other one.

ANyways my thoughts have changed a lot since I smoked that last one. I definitely attribute it to experience. This is not nearly as nice of a cigar as I once thought.

Which of the blends did you have? There is a maduro blend that has a Mexican maduro wrapper on it. There is the Connecticut blend that has a Conn shade wrapper. Then there is the hybrid blend that has a hybrid Cuban-Conn wrapper grown in Ecuador (I believe the country is right). Anyway, the hybrid is by far the best of the bunch. I've had both the robusto and torpedo and enjoyed both.

Great review. :)

Just wanted to add that towards the end, ot got very salty, strangely enough.

don't knock it till you've tried it.
Can remember feeling the same way about some other country's leaf. but found a few nice Mexican cigars out there, etc...

had one of the Padillas a few mos. ago and still liked it. Tho, agree that my tastes have also moved on to diff things. Still, not half bad.

That wasn't sarcasm.....i really enjoy cigars made with Peruvian tobacco. I love the Montecristo Buena Fortuna Maduro. I have also had both the torpedo and robusto of the Padilla Hybrid. I thought they were good, but not as good as the Monte.

Dug in the cooler this evening and I came across one of these, I think I got this from Psyktek or Lucasbuck in one of my newbie trades some time back. I have to agree with Lumberg, spicy, a little bland and one dimensional. The wife even made the coment that the smoke smelled like cinamon. The draw was a little too easy but I was reading and let it go out since it kept trying to. At one point, midway, it started to get a little bitter so I did the hold a lighter and blow thru it trick, that sucker shot a 3" flame and gave me a good laugh. The burn stayed cool and I had lots of smoke. The tast it left on the palate is not bad so if I come across another I think I will try it again.

All I have to say about the wife's opinion is that if she keeps working in the garage she better get used to smelling a lot of different cigars now. :sign:
