Yes I know this is only my 2nd or 3rd post, I just joined CP the other day, a fantastic decision I made :D , with the only regret of not joining sooner, *shrugs* you live, and you learn ...

Recently I picked up a bundle of these babies from a private auction after hearing/reading so many good reviews of them, smoked one last night as I joined CP and really wasn't *bedazzled* by them, as I hoped I would of ???. I was reading their Return Policy, and it's only for defective/damaged cigars, so here I am *stuck* with these black beauties.

Since I am a n00b and haven't been active for 4 months, I can't post these on the marketplace currently, but I'll let them sit for awhile... but, down the road I would be willing to trade some of these for other cigars which fancy me to further my career as a "Cigar Connoisseur"!

Thanks to everyone who's helped me out!

Put them up for awhile and re-visit them in 6 months.

Hi Nicklor and welcome to CP. You answered your own question right there in the portion of your post that I bolded. Sit back, enjoy the board, put those smokes down in your humidor for 4 months, and try again then.

Generally speaking, first day members looking for trades/sales get roughed up pretty quick here. The time requirements for these things are in place for a reason.

Good luck,

Tim

x about, oh say, 1000. :whistling:

I bought a couple bundles in a steal-of-a-sale at the Devil's site, and they're my staple go-to stick many many times. Age them for approximately 2-3 months, pull one out, and light it up. They're very good cigars, although they might not compare to your beloved Kuba Kubas or your Blondies!! :sign:

On the flip side, if you don't like them, you can do the following: Hold a Contest for your 3 Months on CP. ;)

Thanks for reminding me of these sticks, I need to revisit one today. Thanks!!

*update* thanks to sinnyc
I'm going to take his advice and let my new 'gars marinate in my humi until I am able to do anything with'em.

Thanks again sinnyc

That also precludes you from posting them here for trade. The rules are posted in The Marketplace section because that's where trades/buy/sell stuff goes, not in the Cigar Reviews section.

I'm glad you've decided to hold onto them. I understand they are very good.

Sent ya a PM Nicklor, check it!! ;)

Always here to help a fellow newbie. Welcome to CP again.

I'm impressed that you've read the rules (you would not believe how many noob's don't!). I think that the above advice may work wonders for these smokes. I've actually heard good things about them (I've never tried the Beli myself, but I've enjoyed other Padilla's). I've been put off by several smokes at first, only to be very happy with them after giving them time to rest.

I just smoked one of these recently and it was nice. Although it had some humidor time on it. I've got another one I'm letting sit a while longer.

Ditto on the "revisit them in 4 months".

Am I the only one who feels that Padilla went for strength over flavor in this one? Could just be me and my fudged taste buds, but all I could smell and taste was licorice and nic. I think this was the first cigar that I put out due to flavor and harshness instead of wrapper issues. It's weird, because I don't remember having that problem with an Opus, either! Could have just been an off day, I s'pose. I'll probably buy one again in a few months because I've heard some better reviews (It was from feb of this year, and I smoked it a few weeks ago).

EDIT: Woah, your sig confused me... I was looking at the band and going "Well, that's not a Padilla at all!"

I thought these to be quite mild.

Mork calling Orson. Come in, Orson.

Greg, are you sure you were smoking a Padilla Obsidian? These things lit my mouth on fire the first time I tried them.

I have to back my diminutive friend here. ;) The one I smoked was mild, very slight licorice taste and barely any spiciness. Who know's though I might get lit up on the next one. ???

I grabbed a pack of these during that C-Bid private auction in March as well. My initial opinion was they were on the spicy and peppery side, but even just a few months of humi time has definitely mellowed them out (had another one the other day). I'm leaving the rest I have leftover to sleep some more, I agree with what has been said above, more down time will greatly improve these sticks.

Man, I'm starting to think I got a bad stick! Mine definitely did not have slight anything... Just very licorice-y and to much nic build up... Wasn't particularly enjoyable.
