This past Saturday was a pretty nice one out in Jersey, perfect weather to get a little outside yard work done. I’ve got a new above ground pool being installed this spring, and one of the outstanding tasks to be done before it goes in was to remove an old concrete foundation for a steel shed that’s in the way. So, after turning this:

The overall appearance of this cigar was awesome – it was well constructed with a beautiful dark wrapper with no large veins or blemishes. It looked very well packed, had no hard or soft spots, and clipped easily with no signs of unraveling. Pre-light draw was good with some very earthy flavors.

I put it to the flame, and the stick started awesome; a bit of spicy black pepper with an awesome rich tobacco background with a hint of toasted nuts. Shortly after, the black pepper took full control of the flavor, and all the other flavors unfortunately took a back seat. The pepper wasn’t overpowering but strong enough to make my tongue tingle. At this point I’d say the cigar was on the light side of full in body and medium in strength. The burn wandered a little but always corrected itself, and the draw was very good (full but not tight) and produced tons of smoke. The stick held about an inch of light gray ash in a slight March breeze.

Into the 2nd third of the stick, the flavor mellowed, a little of the rich tobacco flavor reappeared in the background accented by the black pepper. The burn was now very straight. This cigar definitely got better as it progressed! While the black pepper was still evident, the overall flavor grew much richer and a little creamy, a very nice combination.

The final third and finish were awesome – a rich and creamy warm tobacco flavor with some hints of dark cocoa, all accented by subtle shots of black pepper. The strength and body of the cigar grew along with the flavor, and by the end of the cigar I was feeling it pretty good. I nubbed it with about 3/4" left.

Overall, this was a pretty good cigar, especially given that I only spent about $2 & change for it. Even though the peppery flavor profile is not one of my favorites, I really enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend it.

Alrighty, let's see if anyone's still with me… :whistling:
I picked up a 20 pack of these during the private C-bid auction that was posted a few weeks ago. While I enjoyed the cigar, I’ve got sooooo many cigars to try thanks to some generous folks around here that I’ll never get around to smoking all of them. So, I’ll shoot out a fiver of these to the first reply to this thread (no PMs please) that meets these requirements: **DONE

1. You’ve never tried these and based on the above you’d like to give them a go (you’re on the honor system)

2. You signed up before March 1 of this year and have at least 25 posts

3. You must have posted an introduction when you joined - post a link to your introduction in your reply post to prove it! First reply with a link to their intro (no edits!) will get the fiver.

Thanks for checking out the review.

Nice review Matt.... generous offer. For the price paid, definitely worth it in my opinion.

This has got to be the best description I've seen yet for these cigars....
lol...I swear it looks like somebody used bat wings for the wrapper on these cigars...hope they don't spread out and fly off!

Nice review and fantastic set of pictures! It's almost like one of those animation flip books, and I could watch the cigar burn down!

Very nice review with awesome pics. I got the same deal and fired one of these up a little over a week ago. I too got a bit of spiciness and the maduro wrapper really came through in the flavor. I may have smoked mine a little too soon as it had very little strength to me. Very good flavor (if I could put it into a color, this would be a deep, dark purple smoke  ). However as mentioned, a tad bit too mild. I'll let the others rest for a while and re-visit. Interested to see if it changes after a while.

Thanks for the review!

I've hidden a few mezos of them for aging in the back of the humi.

Thanks for the feedback guys, this was my first review and I was hoping to do it right. Getting the pictures done was actually easier than I thought, it only took about 15 minutes on photochop to put that sequence together.

I didn't get a lot of strength until the very end of the cigar, it came out of nowhere right before I finished up. It could also be that I don't get a chance to smoke a decent sized cigar down to the nub too often, as a 1-2 hour block of free time can be hard to come by with a 2 year old running around. :)

Very nice review of what sounds like a great stick! Wish I'd been quick on the trigger as I too met the requirements but Bsneed51 beat me out by a long shot.

Thanks for the great review!! I was looking at these sticks the other day and you might have pushed me over the edge to try them.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these cigars!! I can't get enough of them!! I smoke at least one everyday as my "regular" smokes. I already ran out of the bundle I got on the same auction you did on cigarbid, and am in the process for another bundle!

Excellent review!!

Great review! Looking forward to trying these soon. I will probably end up getting the wife to pull the trigger on these for my BDay.

After your review I decided to pull one of these out and give it a try. I must say I enjoyed it and experienced much of the same things you did. It began to get quite bitter close to the band, so I tossed it when I made it to the band. However before that it was a very enjoyable smoke, and I look forward to having another

I just got done smoking one of these and I have to say it was excellent! In my experience the first half of this cigar had a big sweet chocolate & coffee flavor along with a hint of earth and tabacco. After that I got the creaminess you got and the pepper and a spicy flavor. The spice and pepper picked up as the cigar went on and I found myself purging it every 5-6 puffs. I put it down with about 2 inches left. Overall a very good cigar and I plan on buying more to age.

I paired it with a glass of Highland Park 12 year old and the flavors matched perfectly.
