Outlaw Padron 2010

Just went from KC to Des Moines on I-35 and there is quite a bit of construction. I would plan on adding at least 30min up to maybe an hour depending on traffic. We were in light traffic and it cost about 35min or so. From Cameron, MO on down into KC is essentially one lane until you hit 291 and can cut over to 435. It is a couple of major projects and I would assume they will still be going on when Padron time gets here. Plan accordingly.
I drive 35 from Overland Park to Gladstone twice a day and it only takes 25 minutes. Lots of orange thingies on the side of the road, but it doesn't slow you down much outside of rush hour.

What is everyone's thoughts on dinner for Friday night. From what is posted on the Outlaw website it appear that Jorge Padron will be arriving for the mini-event on Friday around 2:00 pm at the north store. So, do we still want to do Jack Stack that night, or would there be interest in going to another BBQ place that is about 10 minutes from the Outlaw called Smoke Stack. Personally I like them both about equal, but if everyone wants to go to Jack Stack I'm perfectly okay with that. Anyway, give me some ideas and I will start calling the BBQ places next week and getting us set up there.

Not the biggest fan of Smoke Stack myself. I vote for Five Guys!

I'm open to whatever. Jack Stack has sort of become a tradition, though. I'm at the mercy of the locals as far as restaurant recommendations go, so I'm not sure my input is worth much.

I see that Smoke Stack was founded by the Fiorella family and Jack Stack is Fiorella's. Are they related?

Yep, same family. I have no problem with going to Jack Stack. I just know last year it took pulling all the strings we had to be able to smoke there, and I'm not sure it's happening this year. Myself, I'm fine with eating dinner there without being able to smoke, but I wanted to offer up all the alternatives.

I hear ya. Would smoking be allowed at Smoke Stack? I'm the same as you when it comes to being able to smoke. If we can great, if we can't, the Outlaw is open for a couple of hours after dinner isn't it?

No smoking at Smoke Stack as they have no outdoor seating. But it's only a 10 minute drive tops from the Outlaw north store. We could do dinner and then head right back over to the North store and enjoy Jorge's company. The mini-events are a much more intimate gathering with more time to spend with the featured guest. I will say again, I honestly don't care either way, because as much as I like Jorge, I prefer the company of all the guys from CP much more, and would be content hanging out with them.

Would the Outlaw allow us to bring in Smoke Stack? If it's only 10min away one of us *cough* Matt *cough* could run get it and bring it back if it's cool with them. Just throwing ideas out there.

*cough* Matt *cough* may have a hard time walking while carrying all that food unless *cough* Alan *cough* drives him back and forth. :whistling:

(Which I would gladly do if everything were ordered ahead of time and was ready to be picked up.)

I am always gonna vote for Jack Stack, but I am willing to go with the vote. One thing I want to point out is since we don't get to throw dollar bills at Brad all day at the Outlaw this year I think maybe Fri evening can be set-up where we can make sure Mr Balls get quality time with us CP folks. I was thinking after dinner maybe go to a bar with a patio we can smoke at and just kick back. Ok that's my 2 cents

Tell me about the beans at these other places.....

Clint, I'd be honored to let you buy me dinner.

That's a good thought. I kind of forgot Brad was no longer working there for a minute. :(

Looks like I may be headed out for this thing again...Things are falling into place after the wife said the other day "When are you going to Kansas City?" and I said I probably am not...she said "Well, you should go!" That's all the prodding I needed, I haven't figured out how yet (driving vs. Flying) but I think I should be there especially if I can plan it around a business trip to Wichita, Kansas. So...I look forward to seeing some of you goofballs again....

Have you picked a non-smoker to bring with you this time?

Smoke House.

Yeah, throw another idea out there that will get me to eat dinner with you guys!

Yep, Smoke House, not Smoke Stack. My bad.

Nah, he is no longer in my circle of trust....LOL

Although I am trying to round up a couple of smokers and drinkers to head out.

When will you be in Wichita?

If I go that route I will come in late the night of the 19th and leave Friday morning back to KC....I will probably be in Wichita a few times over the next few months.....
