Ian's thread about smoking certain hard to get cigars and smokyballs generosity made this review possible.
Sorry no pics, didn't have my camera with me.
Size: 6 ½" x 54
Wrapper: Oscuro Natural (Dominican)
Binder: Dominican
Filler: LFD Factory Press I blend (thanks to Moki for providing this info)
Double D was in Kansas city during the 2006 Litto event and brought one of these cigars back for me to have. Knowing that I would probably never get another, I placed it on the top shelf of my humidor in a place of honor to smoke "on a special day".
Well yesterday a box arrived from smokyballs, with a mindblowing selection of special cigars that he sent us as a reward for participating in his contest. I stopped by Dale's house after work to pick up my share and to sit down and relax with a smoke and talk over the days events with my friend. Dale handed me a large ziplock bag...
And inside was another Outlaw LFD 2006. I thought about its twin nestled safely in my humidor at home and could feel a grin spreading across my face.
I didn't hesitate at all, I reached into the bag and pulled out this work of art, its dark oily wrapper gleaming in the light. I twisted off the pigtail, and scored and lifted the cap with my thumbnail. One dry draw proved to me that it was perfectly rolled and the strong aroma coming from the unlit tobacco promised of great things to come.
From light to nub this cigar provided the taste of LFD ligero, those of you who are fans will know what I'm talking about... not quite leather, not quite spice but an somewhat strange mixture of the two that I've only tasted in Litto's ligero and double ligero cigars. No other brand I've tried has this taste, and its one of the reasons I love LFD cigars.
Never overpowering in taste but still very strong I enjoyed this cigar up until the half-way mark... and then I started to get dizzy. REALLY DIZZY! Hmmm I guess smoking this on an empty stomach was a bad idea, so I put it down and made a smoked cheddar cheese sandwich and drank a coke. The cigar was out when I was feeling well enough to pick it back up so I knocked of the ash, torched it back up and smoked it down to the nub. Relighting had no adverse effect on the cigar at all.
So now I know that when I do get around to smoking the last one of these I own, to eat a good hearty meal first.
Its a damn good cigar, and one well worth picking up from the outlaw to try before they are all gone.
5 out of 5 stars!
