So now I guess it's time to actually start cutting some wood.

I haven't been in my shop doing any woodworking in quite some time. So last night I made a mantle clock for a friend of mine as a housewarming gift. As I was getting done with the final sanding, The Mrs. comes in the shop and says, "mmmm, I haven't smelled that in a long time." I was cutting black walnut, I love the smell of that wood!I love the smell of sawdust.....
LOL, only when I mess up! No, never tried it, it's one thing to be able to cut straight lines, and make curves. But carving is an art, I just don't have that in me.Wade,
Do you do any wood carving at all?
I love quartersawn white oak, but it has a lot more movement than the other two. I've made rockers, and all of our living room furniture out of quartersawn.
Holy freakin' Hank! That is a thing of beauty. Absolutely marvelous work!   :thumbs:I love quartersawn white oak, but it has a lot more movement than the other two. I've made rockers, and all of our living room furniture out of quartersawn.
I made a humidor cabinet recently out of Quarter Sawn White Oak (link below), it turned out pretty nice. You are correct that it moves more than the other two but I love the way it looks.
