Opus X

depends on your tastes and budget.
If you can get them for MSRP get them.
too some they are worth the money to others they are overpriced.

If you have the opportunity, it may be worth it to give it a try and decide from there if it's worth the money to get more.

But even that approach is difficult since some of the vitolas may offer a different overall experience.

If they have a great deal of age on them, and you can score them for a good price... then they are worth the money...

I was gifted an original release RDC, and it was one of the best cigars I've ever smoked. I traded for a few Opus X RdC's from 96, and those are also excellent.

The fresh ones suck, IMHO... Aged ones are Amazing!!

I smoke aged Opus and new ones, when I am in the mood for a spice bomb, nothing beats a fresh Opus.

Opus are not for everyone, they have a distinct flavor that some either love or hate. I would recommend trying the Fuente Fuente size ( 5 5/8 by 46) if you can find one, it is the first one I ever smoked and it remains my favorite size.

I don't understand all the buzz about Opus. I buy them but for the money Padron Annies and the 1926s are better cigars IMHO.

'nuff said.

Even if you don't like them, always pick them up at MSRP for fellow BOTLs that aren't as fortunate or for trade/pass/bomb fodder.

JC

PS: Edited to add, if anyone happens to be able to find Opus X at MSRP, now or at any time in the future, I would be the BOTL to contact ;)

If you have never had one I think it is worth it to try one...or six. I really enjoyed the one I have had so far and plan on picking up more when the oppurtunity presents itself.

Its all the nicotine. man those are some strong cigars.

IMHO they are worth MSRP or a little more. I have only had a couple but they have been very enjoyable.

Well said! I concur.

Try it, you will like it or you won't. But being a cigar smoker and never trying an Opus X is inconceivable to me. Just don't pay a ridiculous price.

What the heck! no, no, no .... Fuente Fuente size suck, they are terrible, and an aged one tastes like a farm.

Darn you Master, you know I'm still looking for a box of these and don't need the competition

Opus sucks. So do Anejos. Stay away from them at all costs (unless you find a full box for sale, then let me know :p )

I agree with Master and Moki. Nothing beats a fresh Power Ranger when you want a kick in the balls and a well aged DC will give a Lusi a run for the money.

Try different sizes; they all have their unique characteristics.

If nothing else try one to see if it trips your trigger. If not at least you'll know. I would take 6 exodus 1959 over 1 Opus X for my last $25.00.

Baron, the only Opus that costs 25.00 is the A size. Many can be had for 10 bucks or less.

But... Which ONE would you take for your last cigar?

...try one and you tell us....

They are unique and has been said, not for everyone. But, in terms of flavor, complexity of taste, and quality of construction...they are one of the best. Chances are you'll know quickly if they are your "cup 'o tea" or not....

I'd suggest trying the RdC, Super Beli, Robusto, and Petite Lancero to get an idea of the flavor profiles from different sizes.

From there you can tailor it down by your exact preference (ie, corona gordas, churcills, piramides)

They are worth it if you like them. ;)

BUTto me they are not worth this guy's asking price.
GOUGER, IMHO
