OK...I've smoked a couple of these in the past and this one was interesting.
-The clip was perfect and the pre-light draw was dead on great.
-It lit up a little crooked but then it straightened out after about the first 1/4 inch. The initial flavor profile was that spicy, raisin-y, chewy flavor we all love about the Opus x line. Since it was a belicoso, like the xXx, it was strong and I could feel it right off the bat. But after about the first 1/3 of the cigar the flavor went flat! :( It never came back to it's greatness that I wanted out of this cigar. Through the last 1/3 of the cigar nothing...nothing happened! I swear, all I could taste was grass and tar. Very dull and boring but still strong. Now, I know that I cut the end correctly...done it lots of times. There never were draw or burn issues. Just no "ooomph". Has anyone encountered this from the Super Beli? I've got 5 more from the same box and I'm scared to try them...this purchase is now about 6 months old sitting in my humi at 66%. What's up? ;)

weird.

Perhaps it dried out at some point in its life and was recusistated?

I think that 6 months is still too fresh for an Opus. IMHO. I find the same thing in most fresh Opus.

No...I know for a fact they came from a good home (Tinder Box, Costa Mesa) and they sat in my well maintained humi at 66%. Don't know why it would taste like it did...but I have 5 more so I guess I need to fire another up to see what happens. Or maybe (sob!) I don't like (tears!) Opus X (cry!) anymore. :(

Heer now brother, I can't stand to see you in pain. Send off your reasons of sorrow to me and I'll be sure to burn them at the steak [dinner] for their devishness ways.

Definately happens to all cigars occasionally. I had a Padron 1926 that did the same thing. I ashed it about half way through and the flavor seemed to fall off the cigar as easily as the refuse. Smoke another and I can almost guarentee this wont happen again.

I recently enjoyed my first Opus, the #4...pretty solid cigar, I fighting off a cold so I probably couldn't get the full flavor of the cigar but what I did taste I enjoyed very much!
