Opus X Series X?

This may be one of those posts that confirms my everlasting newbie status, but I'm fine with that. ;)

To be completely honest, I did a quick search on CP and on google, but nothing too indepth (hard to trust some of the things you find on google, so I thought I'd ask it here.)

Was at my local shop tonight and they had only 1 box of Opus in. Looked on the box and I swear it said "Serie(s) X" on it. (Not sure about the second "s".) I hvae never heard of these and know nothing about them.

Can anyone give me some insight or tell me where I can learn some more about them?

Thanks!

check moki's site...he has a nice write-up about it...even a picture.

The box might be different than the contents inside...compare it with moki's picture before you go and buy a bunch thinking it's the wrong thing.

Actually, that was the first place I checked. I saw his write up, but it seemed like that was some sort of special release or something. These were in a regular looking opus box and were not the same size as the ones I saw. I thought maybe it was just a different vitola or something.

They are probably Perfecxion X's or No.4s.

Perfecxion No. 5 (4 7/8 x 40)
Belicoso xXx (4 5/8 x 49)
Perfecxion No. 4 Serie X (5 1/8 x 43)
Super Belicoso (5 1/2 x 52)
Fuente Fuente (5 5/8 x 46)
Robusto (5 1/4 x 50)
Petit Lancero (6 1/4 x 39)
Perfecxion X (6 1/4 x 48)
Perfecxion No. 2 (6 3/8 x 52)
Reserva D’Chateau (7 x 48)
Double Corona (7 5/8 x 49)
Perfecxion A (9 1/4 x 47)

Here are the sizes for a quick reference.

Definitely fits the size profile of the No. 4 Series X.

So this is just another normal Opus? Nothing special? Damn! Oh well, another vitola to try. Thanks for the help guys!

Yes, just part of the regular line.

Cool! Thanks for all the help! Didn't know that was part of the regular line. Learn something new everyday! (especially on CP)

Thanks for the help.

Yep, it's part of the regular line... but with the Series X designation... I wonder if it is the slightly different blend that Carlito has mentioned for the other Series X cigars (unreleased).

We got a box in our last shipment that said Series X, they were just regular #4's as far as i know ???I smoked a few of them and didnt notice any difference.

I thought it odd, but if it is a special blend its not documented in the invoice in any way. Fuente isnt calling attention to the fact that its a different blend.

From what I'm gathering, I think I might try to get one or two of these, but take the rest of the money I put aside and stick to some of the vitola's that I know I am already in love with!

I knew I should have clarified. What I was speculating on was whether ALL No.4s and Perfecxion X's (the only two regular release vitolas that are labeled "Series X" and come in cedar) are the slightly different Series X blend of Opus X tobacco.

The Series X cigars were explained to me to be the exact same Opus X tobacco, but just a little bit smoother/milder of a blend.
