Cigar: Original Release Opus X Perfecxion No.2 (6 3/8" x 52). This was released in 1995.

Cost: I am not sure. I bought it in a hard to find Fuente sampler from another BOTL.

Drink: Coca-Cola and then ice water

I saved this cigar for a special occasion. Yesterday I went to my High School alma mater (Elder High School) football game. Elder is ranked 4th in the United States and the team we played (East St. Louis Illinois) is ranked 10th in the United States. We stomped them last night. We won 49-28 :)

Appearance: This has a rosado wrapper. There are a couple slight wrapper tears that do not affect the smoking of the cigar at all. The wrapper is very, very, smooth. The cellophane is EXTREMELY yellow. It had a very old musty smell to it. I have never had a cigar where the cellophane is this yellow. The appearance gets a 10/10

Pre-Light: This was simly awesome. I clipped the cigar and when I took a draw, I picked up a wonder flavor. The flavor reminded me of cinnamon, ginger bread and graham crackers. I spent 10 minutes drawing on it before lighting it up. I did not want to light it because this was so delicious.

Construction: Held a decent ash. The ash was somewhat flaky. The draw was perfect. The cigar required only one touchup.

Taste of the cigar: This was the most complex cigar I have ever had. I picked up the following flavors: Cinnamon, Tea, Raisin, Pepper and Butterscotch. The smoke through the nose was not harsh at all.

Strength: This is a full bodied cigar. Normally I get a very strong nicotine buzz from Opus X's. I was not affected at all. I attribute this to the extensive age on it.

Summary: This was the best cigar I have had to date (started smoking in May 2008). I would I could find some more of these. I give it a 10/10.

Thanks for the review. I have a newer release of this vitola sitting in my humidor. I might have to try it. Still haven't pulled the trigger on the Opus line yet, but I have managed to get my grubby paws on a few (Thanks jfields for the benefit auction).

Ouch...another brother gets burned. Sorry to hear that. Somebody needs to go and kick the shit out of the scumbag who sold those smokes.

I was going to post that I thought the band looked awfully suspect, but then thought "Naawwww"! Thanks for clearing this up Jim.

Elderboy...............I don't understand. If you posted this review on CF a month ago and found out that you did not indeed buy an OR PERFX #2, but rather was another victim of Smokinj. Why would you post the same review here under the guise that this was an OR Opus today? ???

Nevermind.........I was reading your join date, and not the review post date.....Sorry!

Ah good call I didn't even pay attention to the post dates. That's weird. The Opus Perf #2 is my favorite opus, great smoke. So I'm not surprised you thought it was the real deal.

Well, my review is still good b/c I picked up all those flavors.

So, I guess I can say that I enjoyed a good cigar, just not as old as I once thought.

Karma is a (you know what) and I hope it bites him very soon.

Nvm :)

Ouch! :( Sorry to see this happened, quite a few people got burned by this guy so you are not alone.

Here are some close-up pics of the Don Carlos Anni and the Casa Fuente. They look real to my untrained eye, but I am guessing he lied about the years:

You might want to slide the bands of and look for burn marks on them. This guy has, in the past, used bands from previously smoked cigars. Pretty much everything you bought, in regards to the bands, is obtainable. The aging seems to be this guys shtick, but a thief is a thief and they will try and maximize their profits anyway possible.

Without comparative pictures it is a tough call, both cigars are relatively common vitolas. All one would conceivable have to do is match wrapper colors, and slap on the new/old bands. However, besides the OR Opus, nothing on your list jumped out as being "rare". So it might just be a case of lying about pedigree, as you stated.

I would check the cellos and see if they look crinkled more than they should be and also check it inside of the bands for discolorations from heat. How do the bands look where they join, do they appear re-glued or off center?

Terrantheman is truly the man, sorry kid, no dice on this stick.

As I was reading this, I was thinking: "Hmmm...started hobby in May of 08', already got his paws on an OR Opus a year and 3 months later. Hmmm..." I don't know, just seems like these things come in time and with patience. No need to chase the "rainbow" just yet, and learn to enjoy the hobby first. As Andrew wisely stated:

1) If you don't know exactly what the cigars should be, ask someone who does before you buy

2) If you don't know the seller well, ask around. Chances are someone who has been around a while may know him; if they don't, that's a warning sign usually

3) Don't let your desire for a particular cigar overwhelm your common sense; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

4) Never pay high prices for cigars that are purported to be rare or limited release without knowing their provenance. Even if these cigars were what they are purported to be, they'd be worthless were they not stored well.

I haven't been back to my high school for a football game ever since I left, saw no point in it. You must be proud.

Original release? You luck dog! Thanks for the review. Of love the No. 2 as well.

You might want to edit the title of your review, it is a bit misleading.
