Don't know if the following will be deemed blasphemous by some but this cigar didn't really do a lot for me. I've had it in my humi for a year now and was expecting a lot more. This is only the second Opus I've had. My first being a xXx that had been aged for about 2 years which was great. This one was just so so. In one word SPICY. Draw was fine. Burn SUCKED. Had to relight on numerous occasions. I don't like fighting with a cigar like that. Especially indoors. Wasn't worth the trouble.

Have had plenty of cigars for under $5 that I would prefer to this one. I would take a Padron or a La Luna over this in a heartbeat. Would even take the machine made Quintero I had this weekend before this one.

Can I expect more from an Anejo? I have a couple in the humi that I have been letting sleep.

Take with a grain of salt - I've only had 1 Opus and 1 Anejo.. That being said, I preferred the Anejo. I found the Opus to be good for sure, but it wasn't god's gift to cigars as some people seem to think. I guess maybe they are hyped so much even being really good it doesn't live up to expectations.

Hey, if you don't like a cigar, ya don't like it.

I'd be happy to be your Opus disposal device. Just ship those pesky bad-burning smokes my way. ;)

I think it's just personal taste. I've yet to find a cigar that *everyone* agrees is wonderful. I personally love Opus's; all depends on what you enjoy in a cigar.

Dry box it for a day or two next time. So much tobacco in there they do need help burning sometimes.

LOL, okay Moki, do you think I agree with Ricardo or disagree :sign:

I wish my box-o-Brevas would get here soon ;)

I have found, (after many opus) that they do not burn well at 70% humidity, and actually need to be down around 63 - 65%. ie. the dry box suggestion. That said, I like opus, and I really enjoy them at times, but not all opus are for me. I love PL's and power rangers are great. I really enjoy Fuente Fuente. I find the #5 way too strong for my tastes, and the #4 is a cigar I need to be in the mood for.

I agree that there are many other great smokes out there for less money, but again, all cigars are different, and when I want an opus, only an opus will do.

What spidey said is soo true. My second Opus X just simply wouldn't stay light as the OP described. My first and third Opus X's were kept in a Nalgeneador sans humi device for a couple of days before burning and just didn't have the same problem. I like most cigars drier than 70; usually around 67%. I think the Opus is best below 65; your 63 is right on the money. I suspect that magical wrapper has something to do with it.

Yep, Brent & Matt pretty much nailed it.

Most of the Opus' that I've smoked right when I bought them from the shop were probably too wet and all I did was get frustrated. The ones I've let sit in the humi at 65% (or slightly less) burned much better.

I have never had a issue with the wrapper not burning. My biggest gripe is it cones. The roll on this is so dense that it takes quite a while for the filler to dry out from where the stores keep em at.
