I will start this off with a huge thanks to a BoTL and I will leave it at that.
23rd January 2009" Opus X Love Story 2006
I didn't confirm if this cigar was from the Love Story pack or the CFCF 2008 Fun box, but either way, this will be a short review. Due to the strength of it, it took any qualities it would normally have shown to be there and hid them from me.
Above picture is me with the opus X Love Story at The Outlaw!
Above picture is OpusXKC and Mr Peat chilling out.
Above picture is me firing up the Love Story.
At 1:17pm, I had already cut the cigar, inspected it, and finally lit the cigar. I immediately exhaled some smoke out of the noise and the first impression was that in needed a long rest. It reminded of a very young cigar. I did get a slight raspberry taste around 1:19pm and this was when it let me know I was in for a ride. I had already said before I lit it this would be like a Chili Pepper or LBMF in their strength and the Love Story didn't disappoint me at all.
Above two pictures is the imprint of the 2006 band into the wrapper!
This cigar was very strong and I smoked it on a empty stomach. Not really completely empty due to the diet I am on, but thats another story altogether. The smoke could knock you down from the strength. Definitely a cigar you should just put in the humidor and let it rest a few years. Especially if you have a couple of them.
Upto 1:40p, it was consistent about the strength profile. It made the cigar seem lopsided. Any of the normal qualities was muted except at 1:40pm when a brief moment it reminded me of an Opus. It didn't stick around for but maybe a whopping 30 seconds when the tar taste really made an appearance.
Above picture is right before I have to ash and take off the Opus band.
Finally, at 2:39pm I put it down. The last initial impressions like the last 1 1/2" if that, it started to mellow out a tad. It started to get a little hints here and there that it was actually an Opus. But those moments didn't last long at all. Even at the end, it was still pretty strong. Definitely was close to having a little to much nicotine in my system. Overall, my impression is to let it sit 3 to 5 years so maybe it will balance itself out. I call this cigar, "The Beast." This cigar will be a winner from my perspective given time.
Above picture is the nub.
