I had some time today (actually during day light hours) to enjoy a smoke. Kids are at school, baby is taking a nap and the wife is studying for a class for her masters. I didn't need to be out of town at my client today, so I thought it would be a good time to kick back, enjoy the nice day with my laptop and an Opus X Belicoso.
Right off the bat, I had two goals in mind, one was to see how big of an ash this bad boy would produce and the other was to see if I could smoke it down to an Atuck nub!
I gave the cigar a clip with my Xikar, grabbed my matches from Jack Schwartz and headed off to the 4 Season room. This has become my designated smoking area with candles and windows and the occasional nagging from the wife...
I gave the cigar a nice toast with a match, tried to finish the light with the same match, but due to the size, had to strike another one. The cigar had consistent flavors throughout, very smooth, not quite as strong as the #5s I've been smoking (everyday for the last week!), but still, lots of flavor with a nice blend of strength. The cigar tasted nice and woody, cedary that is, with a hint of chocality vanilla. This was a very nice smoke, I would highly recommend it.
This season of Opus, I was fortunate enough to pick up a nice number of Fuente Fuente, #5 and Belicoso. I have to say I really enjoy all 3, can't say I like one better than the other.
So, to my goals.
1. I was able to get quite a nice ash from the Belicoso. I finally had to stop about a half inch from the band and go find the wife's digital camera as I was afraid it wouldn't last much longer and I wanted to get a picture to share with everyone. Plus, I neglected to bring an ashtray with and I know she would really give me shit if that 3 inch ash fell on the floor!
2. As hard as I try, I just can't pull off the Atuck nub, the cigars get too hot for me and really start pumping strength at the end. So, I'll just to enjoy those nubs through his pics!
Thanks for sharing my afternoon smoke with me!
The cigar is actually longer than the pop can, but the ash condenses a little...
I wanted to see if I could take it from upright to laying down, still a nice strong ash...broke if off after that though...
After about 75 minutes or so...was getting hot...
