Opus X "A"

As a good luck/victory cigar for last week's NFC playoff game, I decided to smoke my Opus X "A" that I bought in Vegas last summer.

The construction was excellent, and I clipped the end with my Xi3 cutter. Draw was absolutely perfect. I wasn't sure what to expect since this is my first "A" size. Excellent pre-light flavor. I put the torch to the stick and was immediately rewarded with the Opus X taste. I can only describe it as the perfect Opus X flavor I expect from all Opus X cigars. This was one of the best Opus I have ever smoked, maybe the best. It was very similar in flavor to the xXx I had at Thanksgiving. Not too strong, not too sweet, just perfect is all I can say. The ash curved one way at first, then straightened out and curved the other way, then fell off in my lap (oops). After that the ash was perfect until about halfway through, I got a little spreading then it settled down again. With about 1/3 left, it started to get stronger and a little spicier from the heat. I smoked it down to the nub. Plus, the Cardinals won making my day complete! What a great smoke and a great way to enjoy along with watching the game.

I tried something different with the pics, there were a lot so I made an animation.

I forgot to say how long it lasted. I started it at halftime, and it went until well after the game was over. Easily 1.5+ hours.

Nice review and animation. Definitely the first time I've ever seen that in a review. I smoked my first A this past Thanksgiving and I also thought it was an excellent smoke. Wish I had the time or patience for more 1.5 to 2 hr. smokes.
