Cigar: Opus Petit Lancero 6 1/4" x 39 (early 2008)
Pre-Light: Nice construction, vein free wrapper...its an Opus what else is there to say
Smoking: To be honest the last couple of Opus I have smoked have been less than stunning, all were from this year's batch and the last Perfecxion X tasted like paste. Seriously, Elmer's School glue.
Anyway, this cigar was everything Opus can be. Strong, but not overpowering. Hints of spice and cedar, but with a smoother undertone that is sometimes lacking in the other vitolas.
The Petit Lancero is one of my favorite Opus and although many people say they smoke great fresh, I've found another 12 months on top of Fuente's aging does wonders.
So if you can get a hold of a couple and you can keep your hands off of them, you won't be disappointed.
Conclusions: Hopefully the rest Opus that I picked up when I first started here have turned the corner as well. I've been turning to other cigars as of late, due to the sub par performance of this years batch. YMMV!
