Optimal humidities for different cigars?

Hi folks,

I have a quick question here that I couldn't resolve using the search function.

I recently picked up a few sampler packs and as I was researching the various selections that I received, I noticed that particular cigars like the Oliva Serie O's (puros) claim that they are best stored at higher humidities in the 70's to avoid drying out the oils.

How do you folks go about storing these types of cigars in your collection, use a spare humidor with higher humidity? I only have one that I keep regulated at 65% with heartfelt beads...

Any input regarding this matter is greatly appreciated.

I store everything at 65% and don't worry about it. Simple, no...??....

thanks... that was basically what I was planning on doing I mean how badly could they dry out at 65%? I had never heard of using such high levels of humidity before reading about these.

Your cigars aren't going to dry out at 65%. I personally keep the humidity around 58%-65% and they smoke just fine; I do this with all cigars I own.

It's funny how different cigars may need different humidities.

I keep my aristocrat at ~65-67%RH. My cigars feel and smoke fine. I pulled out a Perdomo The Cigar last night that has to be sitting in there for at least 4-5 years. The wrapper was very dry and crackley (word? sp?). Overall the cigar smoked fine, but when cutting and first smoking, it felt dry as a bone. It was hard to believe it came from the same dor as my other cigars.

I too have an aristocrat said at the same RH as you, and only my Perdomo's do that when I light them up. All of my other cigars smoke fine from all the levels in there. It might just be the cigar. I do not rotate my cigars either.

I have been having a problem regulating my RH lately, as I have a humidor that is far too small for all of my sticks, as well as insufficient humidification. Just today I was able to stabilize the RH around 66-70% with half a pound of 70% beads. I do not rotate my sticks either. Maybe I should

Do you regularly rotate your sticks within your humidor? If so, how often?

Cabinet humidor/Set and Forget. The cigar was with other singles in my top shelf, boxes are on the bottom two shelves. I don't rotate, nor felt it would be necessary in my situation. Ohter sinfgles next to this cigar have smoked fine. Someone suggested to place the singles closer to the humidication device, perhaps an open box next to it would help?

I've found that my CC's always seen to like the RH a little lower. They roll em tight down there. but other than that set it and forget it at 65% IMHO.
