In the process of identifying sticks I have gotten from various sources I have had to put some in 2x8 bags which made me wonder.............

If you had a cigar that was a little to dry or a little to moist and you put it in a bag, leaving the bag open at the end, how long would it take for the cigar to be evenly humidified to the RH in your humidor?

It'd depend on how wet or dry the cigar is, really... when in doubt, you should probably just let it sit for a month to be sure... Also, everything I've read on here says the moisture is able to penetrate the ziplock bags, so there's no real need to keep 'em open.

It would depend on;

- How wet / dry the cigars are
- What the RH of your humidor is
- Airflow; passive or active (fans)
- How big the opening of the bag is
- Etc....

Too many variables to state "for sure"......B.B.S.

B.B.S. is right on. In all honesty, the opening doesn't or shouldn't make much difference. Practically speaking, give it a couple of weeks and it should be close enough to equilibrium to not make a difference.

Too, dry or too moist - get some blank cigar bands, Viper has them, this way you don't need to put them in bags.
